I wouldn't have been too excited about going except that I have always been a fan of Jodie Foster's. She is a bit of a flakey character in this movie, but the kids and I all loved it. Very entertaining, very different from your average kids' movie. Reminded me a bit of "Goonies" from my childhood with the adventure and such... Was this review helpful? It was wholsome yet enjoyable for the whole family, cute and had a great summery feel. I'd recomend it for any age. Was this review helpful? Unfortunately- they were. With this cast I had really hoped for more. Tthe best part was the scenery and animals. I want to go to Nim's island- Just get me different screen writers. Jump, jump, jump. More repetitive then an infomercial. I am sorry Jody Foster, you deserve a better, much better movie then this. I know you did the best you could. But good acting doesn't carry the rest of the movie. Was this review helpful? I really liked "Fred" we have a bearded dragon and I did not realize how much reptiles have or want your attention, but he really does some things that "Fred" did in the movie. My whole family really enjoyed this movie the setting was beautiful also. Was this review helpful? Why it's PG is beyond me. Entertaining but not memorable. Was this review helpful? My husband really liked it. I was okay with it. If I liked these kinds of movies I probably would have given it another star. Definetly a good movie for the family. When the movie ended my 5 year old daughter asked if we could buy it and take it home. Was this review helpful? Yes, the plot was a little unrealistic, simplistic and otherwise unplausable...that's what makes a good fantasy-adventure movie so much fun. I thought Jodie Foster was amazing as a very "un-Jodie Foster" type of character...reminded me of why I so love her acting. Both the Mrs. and I walked away with "feel good smiles" on our faces. To all you up tight adults...let loose and enjoy the ride. Was this review helpful? Sign In 3 out of 9 users found this helpful Posted: 4/7/2008A review of Nim's Island by chykcha5 It was just ok. I expected it to be much better. The scenery was beautiful, but was mostly ruined by the girl, who was in Little Miss Sunshine. He acting is not very good and she is getting pretty annoying with these roles. Was this review helpful? There are many kids shows out there with underlying themes, but this one is pretty cut and dry. Just the way I like it. It is a show about courage and taking chances. My kids are 9 and 10 the perfect age for this movie! We were excited to see it because it showed a lot of animals on the movie trailer and we were not disappointed. My son loves lizards so when they had a scene where the lizards are flying we were all loving it! The animal interaction was AWESOME! We just went to Maui over Spring Break, so this movie reminded us of being there. Can't wait to buy it on dvd! Was this review helpful? Good fun can still be had by the entire family...young and the young at heart. Was this review helpful? An enjoyable story for the young at heart. Was this review helpful? My kids both said as we were leaving the theater, "I can't wait to buy it on DVD." Lofty praise because don't buy a lot of DVD and we don't go to a lot of movies. I especially loved the blend of real into fantasy and back again. How Jodie Foster talks with her adventerer from the book Alex Rover is so well done. There is a scene where Jodie Foster has to open her front door and go to the taxi, and she is scared to death to do so, Alex Rover is pulling her outside and it looks to the cab driver as of she is really struggling with someone. Do you and your kids a favor, go and see this wonderful treat of a movie. You will come out happier than when you went in, and that sure doesn't happen with movies very often.
