I love the sence of fear you can feel comming from the civilians caught in the middle of the hell that has besieged there world. I also loved how they thought things through like trying to board up the windows to keep the zombies at bay and the one man who tried to keep safe in the basement while the others struggled for survival upstairs. All these elements formed into a wonderful, Exciting, consuming Zombie movie which I think has yet to be rivaled. Well I have Ranted enough for one day I shall Leave you with one last breath...

When in Doubt the save one bullet......

-Spector Was this review helpful? Drawing on his work with Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead Tom Savini has managed to incorporate the best of George Romero's classics into one film, while also managing to leave out earlier flaws in the trilogy. Exceptional acting, brilliant make-up artistry, and excellent cinemetography and direction make Night of the Living Dead an industry standard.
This film is brilliantly concieved and executed, and, as is right for a Romero remake, Tom Savini followed a tradition of unflinching darkness: no heroic day saving, no good triumphing over evil (the good duys just can't pull it together long enough to triumph over anything), and no happy endings. Romero's classic tale of horror is polished and buffed to a 1990's shine. The characters of 1968 are given depth and realism for the modern age.Romero and Savini created a frightful and masterfully rendered story that stays with the audience long after the curtain drops. This movie is disturbingly good. The dialogue and characters seem all too real. The setting could be anywhere, but as in the real world, things don't ever go our protagonists' way. An ancient farmhouse with seemingly endless windows to board...personality conflicts between the characters result in arguements for alpha male - reflective of what went on behind-the-scenes of the film (there are rumors of crew embezzelment). ";The cellar is the safest place"; -Harry CooperIf only they would have grabbed some Crisco and greased the stairs, the second floor would have been the safest place to be (or the attic?).On a side note, if this is the PA countryside, where are all of the Amish Zombies?Overall, a spectacular thrill ride!
