I decided to see this movie on a whim. I'm glad I did. The plot is solid and nicely executed. The movie had a message without being preachy. Lots of great action and friggin awesome fight scenes. The guys are excellent eye candy. There is, of course, the usual is these types of movies. The missunderstood teen, the slightly flaming gay guy, and the wanna be cool-hood kid. The end is surprising. I thought it would end like these teenage, cool vs. missunderstood kid, movies usually do. With the missunder. winning and becoming popular and the cool jerk lonely and miserable. And it didn't, and I like that. The only thing I didn't like is the acting of the lead guy(missunderstood-new kid). He's not the worst but he sure as hell isn't the best. The other guy(cool jerk) is a better actor. Anyway, I would highly recommend this movie to all over the age of 10 years old.

I always laughed at the people who did because they wasted their money. However, I would have walked out of this movie if I wsn't seeing it with a friend who thought that the guys were hot.
Even if the boys were hot, it does not mean that the movie was good. This movie is mindless and lacks talent in acting, script, and scenetography. The acting was either over the top or just saying lines. The script made me want to gag. I never saw a movie that was filled with as many cliches and cheesey lines as this. The scenetography was apalling. To show that the son and dad got along, they showed them fishing. How more cliche can you get? Then during the very last fight they showed x-rays of the body after punches. They did not do this with any other fight. Where did it come from?
Overall, do not see this movie in theatres and don't watch it when it comes out to DVD. I only recomend this movie to the mindless MTV watching crowd. Was this review helpful? I took my two youngest teens and wasn't expecting much but WOW! NEVER BACK DOWN is KARATE KID meet ROCKY meets VISION QUEST. Now you would think that this would be cheeeeesy, but I felt it really worked. The action is nonstop and though it may be predictable at times the ends justify the means. This will become an instant teen hit. I guarantee that word of mouth will keep this consistently in top 10 for awhile. The storyline is even believable, which for this kind of movie is huge. Alot of action and a little love story all in one. Kept you on the edge of your seat. I think this movie would have done alot better in ratings if they had advertised it to the younger people. Like the Horton Movie got alot of attention this movie would have done just as well if it had the right publisity. Go See it love it my 12 and 13 yr old enjoy it and so did there grandma. Go For It.
