Neil Young, after learning about a near fatal brain aneurysm, wrote and recored the Prarie Wind album, not sure if he would ever make another. The songs sound slow at first, especially if youre more of a hard rocking Neil Young fan, but give them a chance. This album has much meaning to it and if you would watch the film you would understand that and respect them more. As I had said before, the songs on the film are better than that on the album. The first half of the film consists of songs from Prarie Wind. Afterwards, they play a bunch of Neil Youngs past favorites, including the classics Heart Of Gold, Old Man, The Needle And The Damage Done, and great version of Comes A Time. The final song of the concert is a fantastic rendition of One Of These Days, which is much better than the version on the Harvest Moon album. The interactions between the musicians onstage are also so touching. You could tell they were all close to each other and really enjoying themselves up there. When the concert is all finished and everyone has left, Neil Young sits on the stage by himself playing The Old Laughing Lady as the credits roll up the screen. (The only thing I didnt understand was the credits to Cortez The Killer. Some kid was playing an acoustic guitar as people were going into the Ryman, but it didnt sound like Cortez The Killer. If anyone knows about that then let me know.) Young finishes playing just as the credits are done and then he gets up and walks away. I felt that this was a perfect way to end the movie, especially with the dedication for daddy. Neil Youngs father had recently passed away and had been a victim of dementia, the meaning behind the song Prarie Wind. The film angles, cinematography, and editing were all great. Jonathon Demme really did a fantastic job catching what could be Neil Youngs last and greatest concert movie. Was this review helpful? The classical country music film is so smart smart of gold, thats aesthetically understated concert film from Jonathan Demme will transport Youngs legions of baby boomer fans back to the future, as 1969 re-invents itself in 2005 for Young. I like it and loved it! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-3 of 3 Per Page | ||
