I thought this movie was totally fun , because, A,, when I went to the theatre to see it I knew it would be cute , funny , lightweight with little spooky moments and thats exactly why I went to the theatre in the first place. If you were expecting the Spanish Prisonor, then you need to go back to school. B,,I wanted to see a movie I could relate to with someone else of my era. A fun girl flick. Nothing more , nothing less. The casting was perfect, it was fun to see my idols of the past made into a real movie with real people. I loved Nancys boyfriend.. Was this review helpful? We were both pleasantly surprised with how good the movie was. We have read several of the Nancy Drew books and we felt this movie really captured the spirit of the stories. The girls loved it! This movie has just the right amount of suspense without being too scary. Nancy is a character who stands up for what is right and does her best to help others and uplift those around her. This movie was very refreshing and just right for my tween and her friends who aren't allowed to watch PG 13 movies with more adult themes and are looking for other age appropriate options other than the animated films.
It would be really nice to see more movies like this one in the theaters. Was this review helpful? Instead, I really enjoyed the movie, and was impressed with the attention to the details that I remembered most from the book - including Nancy's penny loafers, her roadster, and her nice boyfriend, Ned. And of course her sleuthing kit and her hunches.
Some parts were a bit cheesy for my adult liking, but overall it was very entertaining with plenty of laughs. I like that the movie mixed some of the old with the new. I wish there were more stories like this one - where a smart, confident, brave and kind-hearted girl is at the center. Was this review helpful? We both really enjoyed this movie. It had a good plot, good story line, plenty of laughs, and a good dose of suspense without being too scary for the younger kids. My daughter and I both hope they'll consider making a series of these movies. It would be nice to have Nancy Drew as someone today's girls could look up to just as in generations past. It follows a formulaic plot that works for the crowd it is being produced for. It was everything it ought to be. My kids 7 and 11 loved it.
