Further misadventures of the Befuddled one. Attending a church Bazaar, our hero becomes the winner of a raffle granting him a vacation on the beaches of France. From the time he first boards the train and causes a young man to become seperated from his family, to the unwitting invasion of the cinematic escapades of one Carson Clay all the while working his way to Cannes, he leaves a crooked trail in his usual fashion of structured chaos ultimately leading him to upset one of the most revered events in France. As a celebration of non-verbal comedy, Rowan Atkinson and Director Steve Bendelack encapsulate Bean's zany antics in an effort sticking much closer to the original BBC half-hour blackouts than the initial offering of a few years back. I've seen some pretty scathing internet blab about this piece apparently written by younger folks too saturated by the modern smart-ass hip-hop crap that seems to have flooded the market. Too bad, really. There's no real imagination required and very little inventiveness comparitivly. Mr. Bean illustrates principles that founded the genre using virtually NO CG garbage and depending literally on the range of performance. Willem Da Foe with his great "rubber" face, provides a great foil as Clay without overpowering, again not depending so much on dialog as action while Emma De Caunnes as Sabine provides great counterpoint and a talented Max Baldry supports well as an estranged waif turned Bean accomplice. Great Spoofery and Great Fun.

I really had low expectations for this movie; I don't like slapstick, did not "get" the other Bean movie-though I only watched a bit of it. For the first 20 minutes of this movie, I was worried that it would be a very long 87 minutes; there were some laughs but I did not see any interesting plot forming. Lo and behold, new interesting characters came into play, unexpected things happened, many of them very funny, and this turned into a really entertaining movie with a great ending. It was great to see a movie with my 12 year old that we both really enjoyed, and I didn't feel at all guilty for having taken her to it. (Unlike most tween comedies, which increasingly have really inappropriate scenes and dialogue). I would guess that if one really doesn't like subtitles, doesn't appreciate more subtle humor, or who has no idea who William Dafoe, the Cannes Film Festival, and arthouse films are, one might not get this. If you have to be hit over the head with grossout humor, sexual innuendo, and fart jokes, this is not for you. Everyone else, give this a chance, I think you'll really enjoy it. (And some incredible movies have subtitles-check out Pan's Labryinth).

My wife and I have been fans of the Mr. Bean television program for many years. I was excited to see this re-emergence of the character on film and introduce the benign cuteness and humor to my kids. I had previous success introducing the 3 Stooges to my 8 year old, and thought he would enjoy Mr. Bean as well. Although this was definitely a G-rated pleasure, it fell a little flat in the childish hilarity department. French language and the use of subtitles can be a little over the top for children. Overall, the kids enjoyed it, but they clearly indicated "it wasn't one of their favorites." I've since gone to the library and checked out his TV series and there are times the kids can't catch their breath. I was also disappointed to see that some scenes in the previews (trailer) are NOT in the film. I think it is a bit misleading and borderline false advertising. Two in particular are after he spills coffee on the laptop, the preview shows him licking it off; not in the film. Another preview shows him getting his tie caught in a change or vending machine; not in the film. Ultimately, an enjoyable experience for fans, but not worth the theater price tag.

Took my 7 y.o. to see it. She laughed at some points. I laughed at some points, (actually a chuckle, not a knee slapping laugh). I liked the end. Middle of the movie was boring. Hang in there. Not sure about how fast young ones can read the subtitles, since it's a big part of the movie. Either you like Bean's humor (character), or not. Simple as that.

This movie is really very very funny. I appreciate the fact that there was hardly any dialogue, but mostly visual stunt-comedy. There could easily have been no dialogue at all. And, this could be one of the great self-referential films ever. Even though you SEE it coming (after all, Bean is on the way to Cannes), the final few twists, and then that final scene on the beach, are just classics. This is rated G for Adults, by the way, who like their comedy old-school.

I have watched a little on TV and found him amusing. But if you are not a Bean Fan it is to much at one time. Kids seemed to love it and some adults but after the first 30 minutes the laughs for me were far and few between. It is a very sweet story and kids would probably love it. If you are not a big Bean fan beware.

Those reviewers who do not appreciate the comedy of Mr. Bean do not know, recall or appreciate the comedy of Charlie Chaplan, Buster Keaton, Milton Berle, Marx Brothers, Danny Kaye, Red Skelton, Jerry Lewis and others who used the same "silly" format for their immeasurable success. This movie easily delivers a conterpoint to the old criticis who complain that "they just don't make movies like they used to." It reminds me vey much of the good old times of innocent comedy without all the sex and violence associated with much of modern "comedy". Is it a great movie in the block buster sense? No. Is it a simple movie of exaggerated everyday type disasters sewn together to eventually portray us all in searching for a happy ending. Yeah, I think so. I think it is worth seeing if you are looking for a safe movie and light comedy without all the unnecessay innuendo.

Unbelievable. Just when I thought the movies couldn't get any worse, they did! My kids were not impressed and needless to say, the adults that attended were HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED! There were (perhaps) four moments in the movie that got a chuckle, but honestly, do not waste your time or money. $58.00 later and I left feeling SO frustrated to have wasted money and time on seeing this movie. Do yourself a favor, go rent a movie and order in!

I LMAO at this movie. The reviews were less than kind, but obviously they don't get Bean! It was better than I expected. Harmless for kids, and for adults, enjoy his unshakeably positive view of life. At least it isn't as bad as Rush Hour 3.

I took my six and three year old to see Mr. Bean. For them there were flashes of interest and laughter - particularly the dance scene and more exagerated physical gags. As for me, I felt I was seeing a film from another age and time. I have discussed with film makers from other countries regarding US style editing and pacing, and this film exemplafies their argument - you enter a film on its terms; that comedy needn't be frenetic. It's clear that the film makers knew what they were doing regarding pacing and mannerism, evidenced by the
