That being said I am not blind, deaf or dumb and I retain the capacity to hold my own thought process. This movie is an insult, it's a shame it was released, and it's a sure sign that the movie industry has lost it's way. It's clear that nearly everyone on screen and probably involved with production has been reduced in talent by drug abuse. It is with deep regret that I must state how obvious the drug abuse is with all involved but I can only hope they seek help. Mr. Murray please get help for your addiction to drugs and as well Wes, get help. Immediately felt less of a person for having watched this disgrace. Was this review helpful? If you like something a little off, humor that isn't run of the mill, then you may like this film. The casting was genius, lots of big names but nobody trying to upstage anyone. The 12-year-old girl was fabulous. I didn't grow up in the 60s but I was a 12-year-old girl once and this movie reminded me of that time, when boys first come onto your radar, in a fun and heartwarming sort of way. The music was perfect, the acting was brilliant (especially from the kids), the directing was clever and the storyline was not run-of-the-mill. Yes, the humor was deadpan so don't see it if you don't like deadpan. No, it's not an action film but I wouldn't say it was slow. If you don't like leisurely Sunday strolls in the park, this film might not be for you. If you like a meandering pleasant stroll down memory lane, then this film might be more your speed. Sign in 0 out of 0 users found this helpful ARE YOU KIDDING ME?Posted: 7/10/2012A review of Moonrise Kingdom by MOVIE-GOER8 First, let me say that I'm not a teenager who simply can't understand avant guard movies or something intelligently written and creatively filmed. Next, let me say that this movie was the ONLY movie I walked out on this year. It was cinematically stylish, but felt like I was watching some inside joke that only the director and actors knew. I grew up in the 60's and this did NOT bring anything back except my desire to get a refund on my way out. It was slow, slow and ummm slow....like watching someone pour cold maple syrup out of a bottle and then at the end showing you credits....not that I waited around for credits. They call it "deadpan humor" in the reviews...trust me, it was just dead. The storyline was non-existant, the casting monumentally off [except maybe Bill Murray] and the music so poorly chosen, one would think it was some shuffle from a nursing home ipod mix. If someone tells you it was a uniquely different experience, check to see if they took their meds. This was uniquely terrible. If you SNUCK into the theater to see this, you'll still want something in return for your pain and suffering. Was this review helpful? A friend told me that this movie was SLOW and BORING, but because of the great reviews from the critics, I insisted that my husband and I go see this movie. Be advised that if you are an Adam Sandler fan and think that his last effort "That's My Boy" is a work of cinematic comic genius then, this is absolutely not the film for you. It was most probably the product of the mind of someone looking back with humor on those summer camp adventures. It's very, very nice to see an original movie . I recommend it highly.
