We don't usually like highly aclaimed movies, but we did like this one. Was this review helpful? Save your time and money and look elsewhere for an evenings entertainment. It left me wanting nothing more than the time back of my life I wasted watching it. Was this review helpful? It keeps your mind busy the entire movie~you've got to pay attention. Gripping and intelligent with a great ending!! Definately worth the ticket price and the 2 hours. I'd see it again. You couldn't fall asleep in this movie. Acting was superb! I agree that this is not a film for people who are not prepared to think and pay attention. I would see it again. Was this review helpful? It's an intelligent movie. It's hard to get into at first, a lot of the story line was scattered, but they brought it together quite well. Go see it if you have somewhat of an IQ. As for all you other idiots, go watch dumb and dumber and compare differences in brain size. Was this review helpful? After reading most of the reviews it seemed promising. DEFINATELY a DVD MOVIE.
My Husband and Son were so bored they played games during the film. Was this review helpful? WORST MOVE I HAVE SEEN THIS YEAR. A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. Was this review helpful? If you want to waste time and $9 - go - otherwise DON'T DO IT!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 10/22/2007A review of Michael Clayton by april991001 Complex, subtle, involving and at times just a bit difficult, this is his best effort so far -- better than last year's highly regarded Syriana. His performance as the capable, flawed, problem-beset leading character is marvelous. About half of this cast should get academy nominations. This is a movie you could watch more than once, and only appreciate it more. And yes, the first ten minutes are slow. They're pure set-up and in the larger context they work well, though at the time you won't realize why. In the Man vs. Corporation genre, this is certainly a classic. Almost good enough to make up for Clooney's goshawful Oceans films. Was this review helpful? Go see it if you want something different from standard blockbuster fodder.
It requires one to grapple with complex ethical and personal issues that are not
easy or superficial.
It is a pleasure to be treated like an adult in a theater.
No F-X, no bells and whistles.
American life lived by modern , rather power mad , urban individuals.
Makes one reflect on what is truly of value.
The characterizations are mostly subtle and believable.
It is not purely passive entertainment to numb the brain and heart.
Personally, I feel respected and engaged by this manner of cinema. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 10/20/2007A review of Michael Clayton by oldcrow4 Outstanding story, Oustanding acting. The "R" rating is due to the language which was a bit over the top and not necessary. No nudity, no blood and guts, no hour long car chases with hundreds of flaming crashes. Just a really great film. One of the better "real" movies to come along in years. You have to pay attention and use your brain, if you can't do that, do not go. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 10/19/2007A review of Michael Clayton by rcd111 After reading most of the user reviews, I wonder if my wife and I saw the same movie. We both came out of it saying it was the best movie we've seen in a very long time. The acting was outstanding, the plot was engaging and all the characters respond to situations in ways that are consistent with their "back story" (unlike your typical Hollywood thriller, when the characters constantly put themselves in situations that are entirely ridiculous). No, this isn't a "high energy" film. There aren't any "action sequences" to speak of and the pacing is measured, but what you get is an intelligent, well presented and well acted story with a more-than-satisfying ending.
The first 10 or 15 minutes are a bit confusing at times, but pay attention. Everything comes together nicely as the movie progresses.
Highly recommended. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 10/19/2007A review of Michael Clayton by Anonymous Movie was to predictable and at times borring or dull. Clooney can not carry a movie
and at times seems to over act or comes accross as a second rate actor. I would not recommend this movie! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 10/19/2007A review of Michael Clayton by gunniesac The movie was just one of those OK movies that you are glad you saw at matinee prices. I didn't think it was confusing or particularly difficult to follow. Rather I just didn't care much about what happened to the story or characters. Perhaps the problem was I had seen EASTER PROMISES the week before - an absolutely terrific movie -- Michael Clayton couldn't come close and paled in comparison. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
