Date  Helpful Rating 1 out of 1 users found this helpful  WHY?WHY?WHY?......Posted: 1/8/2007A review of Miami Vice by eaglefixer2 Why didnt I turn this pathetic excuse for a movie off and RUSH the dvd back to the rental store.......I was so ready for a great movie......Ill even overlook Colin and Jamie not looking too much like Crockett and Tubbs but thats where I draw the line......TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! I would rather have gotten my ass kicked in my own front yard than have watched this........I d rather drag my nuts through 5 miles of broken glass than watch this again.....thanks Michael Mann for getting my hopes up.....Ill give you some credit though....HEAT is totally awesome and is one of my top 10 favorite movies of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a waste of 2hrs of my time and Im glad that my wife didnt want to see this in the movie theatre because it would be a waste of 20 bucks and now it was a waste of 4 bucks instead. There was no kind of direction where the movie was going and no kind of action for this day and age film, instead of being a rated R movie it should be a rated PG because it ed. Come on at least with the Tv show you know it was going to be good and it will have a plot and some sort of direction. I have the first two seasons of Miami Vice on DVD and watch them when I want to remenis on the wonder know as the 80s. Sure I was only like 8, but I know the 80s when I see the 80s and what they did to this movie is nothing short of a butcher hacking a cow. They have taken an epic television show and destroyed what people loved about it. It wasnt even close to the show. Colin Farrel is a dirt ball who should be bound and bathed, but I did however like Foxs performance as Tubbs. It had been said that he often acted like a princess on the set, but he is what he is. I like that a Ferrari 430 was used in the movie, being that Sonny use to drive black Ferrari. They did however keep some characters, but destroyed all hope of reconizing them..
Overall I was disapointed in the studio, screenwriters, and prop peaple.

Zero story no action TERRIBLE MOVIE. The actors mumbled through incoherent dialouge. This movie reminds me of a very long bad joke with no punchline. I understand that action movies can be lacking in the dialogue department but to this extreme with these great actors is just a big let down.
I felt there was no real deep realization and developement of the characters.
The love scene between Colin and the Asian woman was so cold and it looked like she was uncomfortable with having to do the scene. There was nothing passionate about it at all!! But the part that was so unrealistic was Colins character falling in love with the Asian bad girl. We as viewers are to believe that this bad-ass undercover agent who risks his life daily to get scum off the street would fall head-over-heels almost instantly for this woman that represents everything he despises in this world?!! PLEASE DO NOT INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE. The only thing truly good about this movie was the realistic explosions and fight scenes. Was this review helpful? However, the director of this movie can not put scenes together. I remember this movie was under the action catalog but while the movie going, I found there were ONLY 8 mins action scenes in a 2 hours and 10 mins show. A movie supposes to be entertainment however, I did not feel entertained in ANY way. I am a serious movie watcher and I am easily entertained by 99.999 of the movie no matter what kind it is. This movie was a big exception from all the movies. This movie is horrible and even worse than cat women and the 5th element which got voted the worst movie of the year few years ago. This movie is good for the sleeplessness therefore, I am going to get DVD by the first release date so that every time when I cant sleepThe first thought came to my mind after the movie was WTH! I WANT REFUND!!! I could still give a hand to the director for the courage to release this movie to entertain the audience. I took my son and 2 of his buddies (13yr.) to see the movie last night. 2 of them fell asleep and I had to remind myself I paid 40 to see this dark, slow moving, sleeping pill. I liked the boats, cars, exotic locations, and the possiblilty that something cool MIGHT happen. The final scene was intense with lots of bullits and bad guys going down like crazy, but they never really developed those bad guy characters enough to wait for the target practice. The guy that played Jose the bad guy was not imposing at all and the bearded Jesus cartel kingpin, couldnt scare my niece Sarah! I was this close to going to Talladega Nights, I should have taken the Blue Pill.
Not a bad Tuesday Night rental, but I would never give up Monday Night Football for this one. Was this review helpful? You all think you could have done a better job? As a frequent moviegoer I was highly entertained. Colin Farrell looked the part, but his acting is not up to par with the rest of the production. Jamie Foxx was amazing. Yes, you may say it was predictable or not enough action for you, but this movie was not for small minds. If you were bored at any moment during this film it was probably because it went over your head. Michael Mann is taking new strides in filmmaking and his bold move to change the look of the beloved 80s TV show was successful. He obviously did not want to make a cheesy remake of the TV show like the rediculous and awful Dukes of Hazzard. The look of this film was accurately updated. Colin Farrell was not bad as an actor nor was Jamie Foxx but they could have done better with costumes. Both the actors resembled the old Miami Vice characters but supposedly were not in the same time period. If Sonny Crocket was in 2006 i dont think hed still have a mullet! This movie was alot like Bad Boys! Just another movie about cops pretending to be drug dealers. the only difference was that the miami vice cops were there. Gong Li has a dumb role and i couldnt understand a word she was saying. I thought the movie could have been WAY better. In my opinion, they should have made it more old school with the original theme song. Sorry Colin I still love u though!!! Was this review helpful? HOWEVER this movie was nothing like the colorful, vibrant, action-packed Vice I remember from back in the day... Where were the colorful suits? Where was the personality?
First, this has to be said it was pretty obvious that the beautiful, powerful actress was going to fall for greasy, bad-attitude, follicle challenged Colin because that happens in life ALL THE TIME, right?
But why waste my time to see them having sex in cars, in showers, who cares? I dont. Not when Im going to watch an action film, people.
Second, whats with the filming? That was some grainy, gritty, and unstable cameraman is all I have to say.
I was not the only one in the theater sitting there, alternating between playing games on my phone and falling asleep.
Boring, pointless,and also a bit confusing...
