This move had the most predictable plot and did so at a very very slow pace. I like Drew Barrymore, but her performance was terrible, and she didnt fit the role of the character of an innocent woman willing to fall in love with the guy that had a serious gambling addiction. I went to this movie anxious to see it because my son actually is a professional poker dealer working for a Casino, but it was a joke. I say FOLD ON THIS ONE.

If you are going to this movie expecting a Rounders-esque experience, you will be sorely disappointed. The plot was extremely predictable and extremely slow to unfold. They did in 2 hrs what needed about 45 mins. The acting felt dry and contrived (think 7th Heaven meets Rounders) and the poker aspect left much to be desired. The only bright spot was watching the real-life pro players like Sammy Farha and Daniel Negreanu try to keep a straight face in the scenes they were in. I dont blame them, it wouldve been hard for me too.

I think it was a decent movie, but nowhere near a movie like Rounders. I thought the ending wasnt done well. There shouldve been a more climatic dramatic build-up and hte final scene shouldve happened when the father and son were heads up...it wouldve meant so much more. They REALLY shouldve put their efforts into making ROUNDERS 2...Where we find out what happens to matt damon and worm...and they should end up re-uniting again in Vegas at the final table... Why waste so much money making and marketing a movie like this instead of getting the Rounder fans..Ed Norton fans..Matt Damon fans..and poker fans automatically wanting to see Rounders 2? That wouldve been a much greater movie concept than this one. I do like how the movie incorporated top players...the guy who does crazy bets..and it shows what poker players are willing to do and live like..and the movie was done nicely, but just didn have enough character build up and a climactic dramatic ending

MSNBCs reviewer states the Director... ... throws caution to the winds and bets on the idea that multiplex audiences will be as fascinated with poker as the director clearly is. Wow. I bet that comment really irked the poor investors in this film. This movie stunk from the word GO. What were several of these actors thinking when they read the script? Drew Barrymore was lucky she at least got her Lyrics movie out before this one! This is only the second movie I walked out on (with only 20 minutes to go!) in my life. Seems somewhere along teh line, the producers of the films trailers forgot to mention it was ESPN Poker NIght.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was a love story. It was a father and sons relationship gone wrong. It was about skill when playing poker and the devastating tragedy of betrayal. I loved this movie because ultimately, it was about forgiveness and honesty. It had it all!

Lucky you, you are on here reading reviews prior to paying to see this awful movie. Drew - I expected more from you. If you want to get into the mind of a lowlife poker player - by all means waste your money. If you want a sappy love story, dont. I want my money and time back. This was awful.
