Nothing seemed to make sense, and the going back and forth wasnt making me too happy. However, I watched it all the way to the end, and found myself sitting up (was lying down). I was in total shock about how the movie ended. Then the entire beginning of the movie that I was about to sleep on, ALL made sense. Everything in the beginning HAD to be shown, to make sense at the end.
The movie was perfectly tied together, and no piece was left dangling. Many times in movies, you are left wondering, what ever happened with.... but this was not the case in Lucky Number Slevin.
I would suggest to anyone planning on watching this, (and have to those who now watched after my recommendation), YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION. I definitely felt a reminder of The Usual Suspects. The movie was nothing alike, but like the end of Usual Suspects, you would have never guessed the ending, the same was in Lucky Number Slevin. I truly hate predictable movies, and this was totally unpredictable. Therefore, I give this 5 stars. Was this review helpful? However, I fel that though it was witty, fun and intriguing ... this movie was fairly week and had more potential than what was presented.
The script was pretty slapstick and adolecent, and the writer was probably spining in his chair singing praises to himself at how clever and solid this is. I felt it was a lack luster attempt. IT HAS MASSIVE POTENTIAL ... and some of the scenes are right on the money.. but the other scenes are filler and bland and lack so much substance its like watching a commercial break during a good series.
The actors did well for the most part, but they were limited to the style of the writing.. i got so annoyed with Josh and Lucy everytime they opened their mouths. Ben Kingsly, Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman are so amazing, and did well in this movie.. but it didnt blow me away
It is a fun movie, one to watch, try to guess, laugh, with enough suspense and action to keep your interest.. but when its over and done with, you dont feel much for it.
I genre crossing movies that are a mix of action, mystery, comedy and suspense.. if its done right.
I would highly reccomend the following movies as better ones to watch rather than slevin

They are all great actresses And Josh Hartnett did a great job. Making it a good comedi and action movie. And become one of my favourits.

Didnt come to town until late. So when it started off I was thinking...wtf? Nothing made sense. At all. Then it started to come together. Tediously, but surely. I felt some nostalgia, there were moments with Bruce Willis from the whole nine yards and the jackal. both bad movies, this one was better. In the end, when it came together you felt..enlightened. But its not a feel good movie. You almost expect a moral to come out of it, but it doesnt. Its violent and theres a lot of coarse language, but in the end I was pleased. Recommended to liven a night. This theme which embodies Lucky Number Slevin, the new pulpy, man caught in the middle thriller, is exactly how the movie works, both on the surface and within the framework of the film.
I hadnt heard very good things about the picture, something I was surprised to hear since it featured such an A-list cast. Then again just because actors like Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsly, and Lucy Lui are in a film doesnt immediately make the film an automatic winner. They all have quite a few unsatisfactory films under their belt, Kingsly for example slummed his career earlier this year while appearing in Bloodrayne. Anyway you look at it you are placing a bet with the price of admission relying solely on these actors presence. So bearing this in mind I didnt go into Slevin with the highest of expectations. However when the film played its game, it literally knocked me off me feet. I was looking and anticipating one way, and the film went in a completely different direction. Even though the film literally pulls what some could construe as a cheap bait and switch, the whole time you are being fooled Lucky Number Slevin is a lot of fun.

Sign In 2 out of 7 users found this helpful  no no noPosted: 5/2/2006A review of Lucky Number Slevin by wolfsalt Please dont see this,A man bets 20 thousand dollars on a horse race so he loses and owes the mafia the money.Before he leaves the track his son is kidnapped and killed,his wife is killed and then they kill him.They no longer wanted their money they just wanted to kill his entire family.Thats all I saw.If that interests you then you will love this film.That all takes place in the first 10 minutes.The end might have been great but after that beginning I ran out of the theater to get my money back.manager said i was not the first. This is a movie that requires the viewer to pay attention as the story is coming to you from more than one vantage point. It has a blend of light comedy with serious dramma, including the action sceens one is used to seeing in a Bruce Willis movie. Like a good Cabernet, it needs time to open up to experience the best of the flavor. This is one of those movies you will want to see twice so you can say, Oh yea, now I get it. Ill be going again! I did not know anything about it going in but it was on our 5.00 list so we went. The first ten minutes are bloody but hang in there because it starts making some twists and turns and keeps you thinking. Great cast. Do not take kids -- it is an adult movie. Lucky Number Oceans Twelve. I was psyched out of my mind! I instantly went to the theaters to view this movie. I sat down with some gummy bears on my shoes. mmm...sounds like pineapples. Well, anyways, so I was there with my dog, my gramma, my pet iguanalana, and a homeless man named joe. he kinda ruined the movie for me. because he kept talking about how he used to be in kindergarden yesterday. So the movie started wtih April Oneil trying to find a decent cup of coffee. She is killed by ninjas. thats the first thirty minutes. but then the ninjas build a shrine to the FIGHTING NINJA GOD OF WAR to bring april oneil back to death. wait. shes already dead. this movie confuses me. then george clooney comes in the scene wearing a girls bathing suit. he fights off the ninjas with a stabby knife. he kills hisself on accident. they publicly display his dead body for all to see and make a mockery of his name. it was violence all over. great movie. five stars. watch. I must say that why is the title lucky, i must say that this guy is not lucky at all, but instead is dumb lucky. Give me a break, if i were shaving and someone tried to kill me, id probably tell my shrink that im a bit dumb lucky. Just as the movie is getting really good, two, wait or is it one simese twin(s) sit next to me. The weird part about it is that they shared a head but they(he) had two bodies. You should have seen them eat popcorn-i must say that Mr. Spielberg should jump on that bandwagon and make a movie about siamese twin(s) eating popcorn. i must say id see it. However, more as to S7even. by the time the twin(s) finished their popcorn, Hugh Grant was shaving again. Overall and in conclusion, this movie left me feeling....hungry. Was this review helpful? At first, when the movie was just about to start, I thought to myself Im not going to like this, but boy was I wrong Dont judge a book by its cover.
I must admit, that there were some boring parts during the beginning of the film, but that all changes once the neighbor (Lucy Liu) and Slevin hook up .
Tthe beginning is about this poor guy named Slevin who seems to constantly have bad luck. He goes from one problem to the next only wearing a white towel around his waste and so this is where I figured the title of the movie had some kind of irony to it.
So anyway, the whole time you sorta feel bad for Slevin because yet again he is having bad luck but this time with the issue of mistaken identity. Everytime you think that you have the movie figured out, another twist is thrown your way and thats when things start to get interesting.
The key, is to pay attention to the very beginning of the movie. It is the beginning of the movie that sets the foundation for everything that happens later on.
Overall, I loved it. If you like suspensecomedyaction and a storyline that keeps you constantly guessing, then this movie is for you.
The violence is not as bad as people make it out to be. The movie is really centered around the mob storyline,.........so its to be expected. Was this review helpful? Whoa, baby. Lucy and Josh did not pull off the love couple idea, their on screen chemistry did not happen. Her acting was a little disappointing, Ive seen her do so much better. But, you were sorry when she got shot. I did figure out some of the mysteries, (Im usually pretty good at this), but still had alot of surprise answers at the end. Not too gory even though there is some violence. I found it appropriate to the story line and not overdone just for effect. The movie is FUN, FUN, FUN. Go and enjoy.
