Date  Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  lemony_stick_itPosted: 2/15/2007A review of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events by goth_chik2 i enjoyed this movie. the special effects super cool and violets inventions...awesome. but whats up with the kids relatives either dying or going completely insane. that part of it was so not believable. sunny rocks and shes got a tarty mouth. i loved the whole goth feel to the movie , being a fan of the corpse bride and nightmare before christmas.
i thought olaf was pretty cool , his character was a bit over the top but with it being jim carrey what did we really expect. for those of you who watched the grinch , this dude is a master of disguise.
all in all , the movie was...entertaining...not anything to write home to the folks about! clip my big yellow toenails...ha-ha.....classic!!! Was this review helpful? Even if you didnt think it was, it is. And honestly, I felt sorry for those kids when they underwent Olafs care. But seriously, its not anything like Harry Potter or Lord of The Rings. If you want to watch it, with the intentions of it being like either one of those movies, be prepared for disappointment, because I thought it was way better than those disappointing six and four hour movies. I thought the funniest thing was the end when Jim Carrey was given a taste of his own medicine by the judge. How can anyone not love revenge plots like that? Its just too amazing. But hey, since Im leaving work in an hour, Im out now. Was this review helpful? Violet is supposed to have very short hair and klaus is supposed to be very small and have glasses. Jim Carrey did a great job as Count Olaf..and Jude Law was a good narrator
The music was very very good...the best one is at the very end where they show the credits
I also understood this movie more because I have read all the books in the series and just finished the secound last one, book 12 The Penultimate Peril..I cant wait till the last book in the series comes out becuase it all starts to make sense for the orphans..i liked book n. 12 because it finally seemed like all the information was coming together.. cant wait for unlucky n. book 13 too come out wich is called The End......I hope they doo the movies for the rest of the books too....... He was extremely funny and looked hilarious. This was a movie were you are wincing at what happens every five minutes and it keeps you on you're feet. They should have put the last book on their script though because the Grim Grotto was the best book yet. I would recommend this book to people over the age of six, though because of the dramatic story line. I LOVED it though! The actors were great! Was this review helpful? The thing thats so unique about this it is that it is set in a world of it's own. You can't tell what time period it's in, it has a bit of magical flare to it but yet is realistic to some extent. Plus you feel extremely attached to the characters and your emotions seem to swing in tune with them too.
The movie itself is a reality check. What would you do if your parents die one morning in a fire and all you've got left are your siblings? it's about a gruelling journey three young children have to travel just for their survival. And the obstacles they have to overcome involved with greed.
There is always a feeling of anticipation of wanting to know what happens next. Although it could get a bit too monotonous and lengthy. Was this review helpful? being over the top and shameless but this is a monumental feat of overacting.

The plot was a little dark, kinda sad that things happened the way they did. But it was hilarious how Jim Carrey(Count Olaf) showed up everywhere. It cracked me up. I'm not surprised it won an Emmy Award, but there was one little twist too it. The Bad Beggining which is the first book ends with the ending of this movie, but I guess the Director wasn't looking forward to making a sequel, because they solved the mystery of their parents death.
