Leatherheads is worse than a snoozefest. It was at once irritating and insulting. Irritating with "stoney walk through your lines acting"- good God Renee, hackney spoofs, and mind numbing triteness. Does every drunk have to sleep against a wall and zip up his pants in public? Insulting. Am I not suppose to know that 1925 was 7 years after the end of WW I and Carter is just in his 3rd year at Princeton at age 24? By the way 24 would have made him a 15 or 16 y.o. in France. Just look at this year's winners. Ho hum. Leatherheads is predictable, but it's also funny, has good music (LSU fans pay attention to the beginning, Sooner fans, pay attention at the end) and if you like football, you'll like the movie. I'd say people over 40 will enjoy the movie more than the younger viewers because it doesn't have gratuitous sex, gratuitous violence or too many vulgarities. Oh, and it isn't animated. Duluth Minnesota really had a professional football team the "Duluth Eskimoes". And the University of Minnesota Duluths' mascot..."The Bulldogs"! Clooney does a great job setting the theme for this well paced, period piece of a comedy. The film is visually appealing with fresh background, and wardrobe. I felt as though I was there.
