This movie is brilliant for all those gore movie lovers out there although it dosnt beet land of the dead it comes pritty close. It shows how these zombies are evolving and learning to become like us humans and also no matter how rich or powerful you are you cant get away from these creatures. But if you cant handle seeing blood and flying crpses i recomend you not watch this movie. George keep doing what youre doing because it works! Cant wait for the next movie!

i thought this movie was actually pretty good. i mean finally a zombie movie when the zombies actually can learn instead of just walking around really slowly. i thought it was extremely gory (ecspecially the unrated version) and id want to see it again

Dont let the title of my review give you the wrong impression. I have a lot of respect for George A. Romero, and the original Night of the Living Dead was a horror classic, but I think that the Living Dead concept has run out of steam. There wasnt a lot of new ground covered in this latest installment, and even if there was, I didnt see it. However, the film took itself quite seriously, and it was very competently made, so I considered it a good watch. I personally think that Romero should come up with other ideas, and move on to other projects. Face it, if he can come up with an idea that will influence the horror genre forever, who knows what he could accomplish in the modern age.

Im an anime lover, Im not your typical teenager who takes delight in mindless gore and until the day this came out.. I never even heard of Mr. Romero... what drew me to this movie was the seemingly post apocalyptic theme of the whole setting.. I love that kinda stuff... and I was impressed, I half expected it to be this retarded bloodfest.. since my boyfriend enjoyed it, but it turned out that I enjoyed it too... the whole slow evolution factor on the zombies was an excellent idea.. it gives the Living Dead theme a whole new depth.. and the movie kept me on my toes the entire time. The gore was not cheaply made but surprisingly convincing.. After watching this movie, I immediately rented all of his films and I fell in love.. Romero turned me on to zombies just by making this masterpiece.. and even though Im not your typical teen with an insatiable appetite for gore.. I LOVED this movie, and I reccomend it for those not queasy of the stomach.

There really aught to be a way of rating this movie an 'ohhh, hellll no', but as it is, we are forced to choose from a scale of 1-5 stars ... this movie is not even worth the 1 star rating I was forced to give it as the lowest possible option! If you are a necrophiliac cannibal with a marginal IQ, you might (and I stress MIGHT) come out of this movie feeling as though you had invested two hours of your life in a productive manner ... but, for those who may prefer a more intelligent thriller ... this isn't it ... enough said.

I know that I shouldn't get excited about new movies, esp. sequels, prequels and remakes, but I was actually looking forward to see George's new work. I left the theater with the feeling that I will never get the 2 hours back that I wasted on this awful movie. I am still a very big fan of his earlier works, esp. Dawn Of The Dead, but this turd of a film makes even the remake of Dawn Of The Dead look better. Plot oversights that you can drive a truck through. Characters that are not even thought about being fleshed out. Did I mention the holes in this movie? Let's see, I'm outside of the protective wire of the city waiting for a boat to come across the river, surrounded by these dead things that want to turn me into dinner, what do I do? I know, I'll grab my iPod, put my headphones on, and smoke cigarettes and hope that none of the bad guys get get to turn me into food on the hoof. Maybe George is trying to scare up a little cash. Can't fault the man for that, we all got bills. I would like to point out that my friend and I have spent more time taking that horrible movie apart than we did actually suffering through it's viewing. If there is nothing else playing at your theater but this, go to blockbuster and stay home, you'll feel better about it in the morning.

I went to see this movie with hopes of seeing something that would be a basic zombie movie. Instead what I got was a movie where the undead seemed like cavemen more than zombies and the political rederict in it was over the top. Never in my life have I seen a worst ending to a movie. If you are wanting to see this movie go for it but I would recomend saving your money and time.

Ok so I LOVE scarry movies and I love Zombie movies and Romeros. However I just saw this one last night and I was a little disappointed the makup on the lead zombie was only on his face his neck looked fine. And he seemed to alive to be dead. The other zombies were all slow moving and stupid...a typical zombie but he wasn't I mean that right there through me off. Good story and heros and explosions but why was he so different. And dead bodies float so how could they just walked across the bottom of the river. Even living peps can't do that. And the last comment that the hero of the film said. Come on. No one in there right mind would do that they would just blast them. It was good but for a person like me who loves to get scared I was disappointed.

first they learned to run in the Dawn of the Dead remake, now they have a concious, empathy and symathy for one another. their teeth are dark which seems to happen on the onset of death , or new life, and they have really colorful eyes. the head black one, the moral leader of sorts, has blues eyes. here the humans seemed more evil, more ruthless than the zombies, who are merely just hungry. much was lost in this rendition of the Dead series, much which made zombies, well, zombies. the plot was weak too. Romero must have needed money and like Mike tyson should really stop at this round.

i pride myself on being a huge zombie and horror movie fan. this movie was not meant to be taken very seriously, (although, it did have some relevence to current events) but, i think if you are a true fan of the genre, you will appreciate it. it wasn't scary, but really, have they ever been? the gore was what kept me going back, and this deffinatley had that. and, yes, it was a bit far fetched that the zombies would start to think and use weapons, but they started to evolve in dawn, this was the next logical step. besides, its a zombie movie... how much realism do we want? i think romero did a great job and he is still #1 in my mind. (too bad pittsburgh screwed him by trying to over charge him to film here, i would have loved to be an extra!)

i know thisll probably make no difference, but i wanna write it anyway. this movie was absolutely horrible. im a big scary movie fan, but not only was this movie not scary, it was an hour and a half of depressing comedy. the acting was horrible. the dialogue was so cliche i wanted to choke. and the story was not only predictable, but so dumb that i didnt even care. save $10 and an hour and a half of your life...dont watch it.

Posted: 7/4/2005A review of Land of the Dead by filmmus
I went to this film to see a Horror Film Legend's 4th installment in his classic Living Dead Trilogy. My immediate disorientation was in the fact that this film had a markedly higher budget feel than his previous films, which up until now had become part of the tone that made the films creepy. Once getting past this fact I started to focus on the subtext of the film, which elevated the film in my mind into something more interesting: Here's my interpretation: Dennis Hopper's is basically George Bush (and all Republicans) who sits in the rooftop of his highrise...a symbol for the WTC and pompous American Superiority. He rules over the last standing Human Civilization which guards it perimeter against a sea of zombies. In the middle of this are the Innocent civilians and solidiers who are simply doing their jobs. Our lead hero basically represents the everyman (soldier) who just wants to do good and be free. Is it a coincidence that the Intelligent Zombie is darker skinned and works in a Gas Station? Gas? Oil? I think not. This Zombie feels for his fellow corpses and teaches them to fight back.....leading them towards the large Symbol of human Dominance and Greed. Clearly this is like Bin Laden training and leading his troops towards the destruction of the WTC. In the midst of this is the John Leguizame chracter who thinks by working with Dennis Hopper and doing his dirty work he can get ahead in the world and build a niche for himself withing the Human perimeter. But when he finds himself betrayed he decides to hijack Hopper's Weapon of Mass Destruction and threatens to destroy Hopper's Highrise haven if he doesn't give him his due. Easily one could see the similarities between this and Sadam Husein. Is it possible that I'm reading more into this film that it intended or deserves. Possibly. But in my mind some of these similarities are blaring and deserving of consideration before dismissing this film as just another Zombie Flick.
