And as a real movie fan, who sees all kinds of movies and has learned to appreciate them, it takes a lot to make me say that. This was not college humor-- it was junior high male humor fermented and aged to intolerable raunch in old-enough-to-know-better LATE TWENTY-SOMETHING males. Ugh.
It wasn't "sweet" except in a faux-humanity sort of way. And the premise that a smart, successful, beautiful young woman would seek and even push for a relationship with such a lazy, stupid, irredeemable blob of protoplasm as the male protagonist (I cannot use the word "hero" here!) is just plain sad. This movie is a juvenile male's wet dream. Is this supposed to be Hollywood's answer to chick flicks? Was this review helpful? Although the actors are very watchable, the jokes are most of the time very unfunny, and too often just plain childish. The only funny parts are related to a friend of the leading actor who takes a bet to not shave himself, and I actually found myself waiting for him to come back, because the only funny moments revolved around him. The story is turgid and when I finally got to the end, I felt I had wasted two hours of my life. There are much funnier movies out there; this one really made me rather depressed. Do not buy!!! Please just download this bit of rubbish if you feel you really have to, and if your friends tell you it is really funny. I would seriously doubt those friends though... Was this review helpful? I found it hilarious, sooo funny! Touchy subjects at times but that's where a lot of the humour came from.
I know you're more likely to hear from people that hated it as apposed to loved it but they need to loosen up and not take it so seriously. It's only a movie!
I saw a preview of it in the UK and it doesn't come out properly until the next few weeks or so but I would see it again in the cinema, well worth spending your money on.
The whole cinema was laughing away with me and my girlfriend (even she loved it) so I was not the only one. Watch it, rent it, buy it! Was this review helpful? I thought I was going to go see a comedy. This is a tragic train wreck. I walked out with 30 mins left. Would have left sooner but I was hoping it would redeem itself.
