It is the type of movie that relies on content and characters to sell. It was not big and flashy and it also probably did not cost 50M to make.
This movie was all in all the best action movie of the year and probably one of the top 5 of the year. Hilarious. By the way for all of you who are complaining about the f word, get real. The rating on the movie is R. If you do not like swearing and blood and sex, then watch PG or G movies. Dont knock good movies beacause they dont maintain your rigid sense of..... I had no idea it was supposed to be so funny. After I sat down and watched it, I understood why they were all laughing. This is a great movie, especially for people like me who rarely like movies. Convince a friend to do it. While its a recommended see because its pretty funny, dont spend more then two dollars and defintely dont buy it. I went to see it at a friends place. I was impressed with the plot...somewhat. Unique. But Im pretty sure theres a reason Shane Black didnt direct his Leathal Weapon movies, and this is it. While his writing might be good, his excecution is tacky. The chemistry between Kilmer and Downey Jr. Is good, but I wish that their reckless banter didnt occur in key scenes in the middle of the action, and Mr. Black, when you kill somebody, kill them. Dont make a joke out of it at the end of the movie. And if swear if I hear Robert Downey Jr. say the f word once more, I might blow up. Was this review helpful? My husband thoroughly enjoyed it and hes hard to please. Lots of fun--Ill recommend it to anyone!
So much better than half the films that have been released this year so its hard to understand why this did not get a lot of press or publicity. Definitely a must see! Was this review helpful? The plot was not bad, but the execution of the movie was silly and completely unrealistic. The acting was forced and the ending was ridiculous. I desperately hoped for something funny to happen, and found myself fake laughing to keep my wife from leaving the theater. Numerous audience members had similar complaints after the movie. I have never been in a theater where the entire audience is hysterically laughing, but with this movie, we all were!! I have to go back and see it again because we were all too busy laughing and Im sure we missed many good lines and comebacks. If you dont like bad language, you may not want to see this one. I feel though that the language adds to the dark comedy aspect and really gets the points across to the audience. I havent been this entertained in an extremely long time! Well I got both, it was very entertaining and I couldnt stop laughing from beginning to end! I and the other people in the audience were actually laughing out loud well after a lot of the scences had ended. I have always been a fan of Robert Downey Jr. so it was good to see him in a role he was made to play. Val Kilmer was great as Gay Perry and Michelle Monaghan, well she didnt have to open her mouth, she is one beautiful lady and could steal a scene by just being there!
