Unabashed and unrelenting," Kinsey" forces honesty and basic (albeit "shameful") human nature unto the laughing and squirming watchers. This movie really should have been rated NC-17, because there is a lot of frontal nudity and frank discussion about taboo topics, such as masturbation, oral sex, and homosexuality, that I assume many young people might not be able to appreciate or understand its artistic necessity. Also, prudish, weak stomached people beware. Ironically, these are the people who need to see and understand this movie, and to whom Kinsey's research was most aimed toward educating. The cast is great, the characters are convincing, and the script is left unDisney-fied. The movie has emotional depth, but the writers prevented it from wallowing in tear-jerking pathos. Most importantly (to me anyway) is that Kinsey was depicted as a flawed man, irritating at times and full of shortcomings, and all the more human because of this. I couldn't recommend this movie more, but caveat emptor; this movie will not inspire as much as enlighten and make all people appreciative of their sexuality proud of how far society has come along but furious and how much further we still need to progress.

this movie was provacative in some ways and then other ways just plain boring! yes you would think that it being about sex it would be almost considered x-rated but it wasnt at all. this is not a movie for age 17 and under because you do see the male anatomy quite well and if you are a homophobe than you might no enjoy it either but this movie is not worth your money! wait until it comes out and then you can fast forward it or rewind it as needed.

Finally, a brave film in dark times! Kinsey, for all his flaws, laid the groundwork for helping America get over its ridiculous fear of sex and reliance upon the most harmful lies of religion. This should be required viewing for every high school senior, and every adult in America should attend this honest and objective movie.

Very brave portrayal of a touchy subject during a difficult period of time. Excellent performances by accomplished actors. Dry subject matter could put off some, but all in all a brave work. It's interesting to see, how over time, how much has changed -and how little.

Review Number 1 so far has received a much higher percentage of "helpful votes" than Review Number 2. I wonder why that is?

Kinsey has emerged as the film to see in this pre-oscar season. It is essentially a beautiful and telling elegy about the life of a scientific mind that braved ignorance and fear, much of which is still with us [read review No. 1 as an example]. Extraordinary performances by one and all!
