I liked how they all fight, and the fact that there was alot of blood everywhere. I especially liked the little intro-story of O-ren Ishii because it was in an anime form story. My favorite character in this movie, must probably be Go-Go Ubari, because she looks all innocent in her uniform, then she goes out and killls people. in other words, this is a great movie. Most part of the story of volum one take place in Japan where she goes to meet Hatori Hanzo who makes the greatest sword and take her revenge on Oren Ishii, who also took part in the murder.
The greatest thing about the movie is the visual effect. Its fight scenes are almost fantastic like ones you have seen in animations or video games.
In addition, Uma Thurman as a leading character was very good in her role. She was not only the coolest swordswoman but also a perfect angry mom who had lost her baby.
Another enjoyable factor about Kill Bill is its sequence. It is divided by chapters, but they are not following time order. It is like a puzzle game becuase the audiences have to form the whole storyline by themselves.
However, Good fight scenes could be a negative point of the movie. Simply it has too much violence. For example, head and body parts cut by 'the bride' are flying away, and blood is sprouting from the body's stump like a fountain.
Furthemore, the thing that made me the most annoyed was that it was like an oriental fantasy for westerners. There is no serious point about Japan or Asia at all. The movie took every sources about Japan or China- samurai, Yakuza, kimono, Japanese garden, Japanese popsong as a background music, Kung fu, Chinese dress, even a 17 year girl in school uniform- blended them and made a great piece of collage. But where is Japan or Asia? Maybe it is too much expecting for the movie.
This is the movie for the type of person who loves action movives, especially who is a big fan of old Asian martial-arts cinemas such as kung fu or Samurai movies.
In conclusion, Unique editting and wonderful acting and special effects make for a really fun movie. However, for someone who wants something serious more than just fun, it can be skipped. What this movie lacks in plot it makes up for in storylines great detail has gone into the developement of each charactor. You are made to see some nobility in each char that somehow defines their life and how they got there. Uma seems almost in a way only redeemable by the loss of her daughter and is her driving force for revenge.It is as though in a previous life black mamba was a cold ruthless killer brought down by a band of killers working together even going so far as to put a bullet in her head could not kill her. Uma Thurman turn in a brilliant performance and is looking better than ever. I loved it, although I'm still scratching my head as to exactly what Tarentino was trying to accomplish by making it so bloody. It was so over the top that it was comical/cartoonish.
