It actually pokes fun at the media controlled consumer culture we live in. The obvious reference to the Backstreet boys is funny too. It was just a waist of tape and time. The acting was horrible and the plot was ridiculas. I have to admit however that the songs were pretty good, but other than that, forget it! DONT EVEN BOTHER. The plot is fantastic and the casting is perfect. I love Tara Reid's character, Melody. She carries off the whole dumb blonde thing perfectly! I also really like the boy band DuJour. The first scene in the movie is hilarious...I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. It would be interesting to have a whole movie focused on DuJour. The soundtrack is great, too. I saw it in theaters and I thought it was kind of weird but then a couple of months ago I was chanel surfing and I ran acrossed it and started waching it and now it's one of my favorite movies. But the thing I liked most about the movie was it's music it was so awesome. After I saw the movie again I went out and bought the sound track. Was this review helpful? It screamed with terrible teenage melodrama, and I am more of the ";Snatch"; kind of girl. None the less, insomnia and late night cable led me to watching the adventures of these pussycats. While the humor in this movie may or may not be intentional, it definately gets the laughs - more due to irony than the actual script. There are three types of people who see this film: people who love it because it's ";cool,"; people who love it because of it's insidiously malignant comedy, or people who hate it because they thought it was stupid because they just didn't get the humor. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you watch carefully, you'll see that this movie incessantly insults the demographic it initially targets (the people who like the movie because it's ";cool";). Anyways, I got a laugh or two (mostly at the expense of the poor tools of society out there). The sappy romance could have been done without, and the soundtrack is moderately withstandable.
