The show was thought provoking and innovative. There is not another show that takes that deeper look into life and humanity. You don't have to be religious to enjoy the show because it doesn't preach to people. I think its really sad that shows like this get cancelled and brainless shows such as Big Brother are kept. It seems to me that the television industry seems to be dumbing down its shows every year. What ever happen to originality and intelligence? Was this review helpful? We are thoroughly disappointed and disgusted with todays tv trends. Joan of Arcadia is a show we all looked forward to watching together on Friday evenings. The cast is magnificent, the acting fantastic and the storylines thoght provoking and consistant. The story has now been left up in the air and unfinished. It seems that a great show has been done a great disservice, as have the faithful viewers. Please reconsider and bring Joan back . Maybe anther network will be smart enough to pick it up! I waited for Friday nights so I could watch it. How sad that you took off a show promoting God and put one on that talks to dead people. What are you looking for among the dead? Joan comes from an average middleclass dysfunctional family that struggles with a variety of issues effecting their family (notably grief, maturity, and faith). Joan is instructed by God to do various things seemingly to help others. The instructions are usually simple and open ended allowing for a number of "youthful" interpretations involving choices. The resulting actions usually turn out different than she anticipated and a "lesson" is yielded that helps her experience compassion and trust in something larger than herself, without being dogmatic or denominational. The show has true heart and is a welcome reprieve from the violence and existential emptiness that frequents night time television. Was this review helpful? It is a show that the actuall family can all enjoy. Joan of arcadia is hilarious but yet has good values.This is the type of show that they should be showing on television all the time. The Show has a little bit of everything you would need in a good sitcom. Light hearted, funny, dramatic, and heart wrenching scenes that make you feel for everyone involved. Amber and the cast perform flawlessly and the the stories and topics are well chosen and directed.<br>Life questions are not answered directly but give the viewer an alternative to the standard christian viewpoint. I don't think you have to be religious to appreciate the way this series addresses societal issues. It lends a substantial insight to the human condition.
