I was 17 when I first saw this movie. It moved me. And I took my mother and it moved her too. I saw it so many times, that I knew every word and every song from the movie. I was so into it that my mum wrote a poem about my obsession with the movie. I had been turning away from my Catholic upbringing in my teens, but this gave me a different way to focus on Jesus. It was my salvation sometimes. My daughter was brought up learning the music and watching the movie. I have since seen the play twice. Once with Carl Anderson before he passed away. And twice I've met Ted Neeley. The first time I took my original movie LP sleeve and they signed it for me. Just a couple of years ago, the JCS play came to my home town, and both my daughter and I got our album covers signed by Ted. We met up with him for drinks at the hotel with the cast. We had a lovely visit with him and the others. They were so great at their parts, that you didn't know they weren't the original cast. As I've read on this site, this movie is not just for those who are believers, but for anyone who has questions about Jesus and his story. I love the way Norman Jewison portrayed the movie in a modern way for the '70's. It allowed us to get into the story and see ourselves right there. It might not have been the big box office hit it should have been, but more people are fans than we know. I've met lots of people since 1973 when it was released and they know the songs like I do ... young and old. This will be a timeless classic. I know it in my heart. M.P.

this movie is a great film, done in 1973, not the best acting ever in the world, but the music, and the movie is done in Israel, some great camera shots, one really pointless comedy scene towards the end of the film but that's forgettable, still a great film, anyone can watch this film, it's heartfelt story and great singing, Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson really steal the show. a must see

I was 17 years old when JCS hit the screen. Wow! I loved it! I am now 46 and just bought the DVD. Looking at it after all these years still gives me the same thrill.

This movie can be enjoyed by both religious and non-religious people. The story of Jesus is told in an upbeat and musical 60's version that keeps you entertained throughout the film. Amazing vocals and music throughout the film, a must see for anyone who enjoys the music of the 60's and 70's.
