Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 5/28/2006A review of Inside Man by Anonymous There are several ideals of New York City which have been put to film. There were the grand musicals of the thirties and the gritty street style which started in the fifties. Each director who has tackled the city has brought his own unique style, just look at how Martin Scorsese photographs New York, the city he grew up in. One director in the late eighties brought a new approach to the big apple when his film Do the Right Thing was released. This film introduced mainstream cinema to an entirely new concept, the Spike Lee Joint. ...

The movie is different and leaves you attracted to the plot every second of the way. Although the idea of a typical bank robbery in a crowded metro area may seem boring and redundant, be aware that this show is anything but. The movie has twists and turns and Denzel Washington has once again done a great job of playing his role. Filled with catchy phrases and themes that go beyond what appears on the surface, Inside Man is suspenseful and bold. Was this review helpful? Sign In 5 out of 5 users found this helpful Posted: 5/10/2006A review of Inside Man by Darin1980 Not many movies about bank heists can forge through twist after twist without leaving its audience feeling somehow cheated. Many times, plot twists completely derail the original storyline, and leave a person to sort through a mess of cliche red herrings. This film, however, manages to twist and turn like a seemless rollercoaster, surprising and thrilling. What the twists and turns managed to do (that most caper movies fail miserably at) is to maintain believability. I walked away believing that the events depicted here could actually happen.
Solid performances greatly enhance this film. Characters are motivated, genuine, and smart. The actors were well-casted, and all did their homework. Ill gladly watch this one again. This movie had a great ending, it left me wondering the motive for the robbery, and hoping to see a sequel... Kudos to Spike Lee, Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster. Jodie looked fabulous and did an excellent job as a background player in this movie.
I would see it again. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 4/25/2006A review of Inside Man by Anonymous as you probably have heard, im from Washington in the state of Denzel! yeah! woohoo! you go D-Wash. anyway, about the film. the whole time i was watching it, there was a sticky film over my hands. i think it was from the carameled nougat that i was holding in my fist the whole time i was at the fair. then i realize there was a film all over my eyes (cadaracs) and all i could see was filmy jolly ranchers all over my arms. back to the film, it was rather...filmy. if you know what i mean. uggghhh, theres film all over the keyboard. yeeech Was this review helpful? Much like all the rest. Afterwards, about an hour or so into the plot, it began to twist and turn. By the end of the movie, I still hadnt figured it all out. Not until I got home and continued to wonder what had happenend. I cant remember a movie that has kept me so enthralled and guessing.
Spike Lee had camera dynamics and saucy verbal comebacks that revealed his signature theatrics.
It was great. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 4/17/2006A review of Inside Man by Anonymous I was thrilled to be able to see so many great actors in a Spike Lee movie. During the first half hour I was so bored I couldnt stop squiggling. When the movie was into an hour, my boyfriend put his head on my shoulder. Hmmmm..I asked him if he was okay. He said A little bored. I said can we just get up and leave? I thought youd never ask, he said. We rented a video and went home. Very dissapointing. I dont even care to know how it ends. Sorry Denzel, I collect alk your movies, but this one will not be among them. Was this review helpful? Sign In 13 out of 14 users found this helpful Posted: 4/16/2006A review of Inside Man by tonybino I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Everything was well done. The script, the pace of the movie, the acting, the directing, etc. etc. I was actually taken by surprise by this movie. This movie is definitely worth seeing. For those who collects movies, this is a sure-fire candidate for any collection when it comes out in the market.
From the beginning, the movie captures your attention. And from then on, its a hell of a ride. Its similar to an amusement park ride where you just sit there and before you know it, the ride (movie) is over. The movie is not just a gung-ho action pic, but it also has some angles where you have to think what the heck is going on.
Kudos to Clive Owen to whom I think should have been the next James Bond not that awful looking whats his name. The JB producers made a huge mistake not casting Clive Owen as the next JB. And for that, I will skip Casino Royale. But to come back to the movie, Its all good. The cast is superb and Spike Lee is back and his humor is evident in the movie.
If you catch yourself in line and cant decide what to see, forget Slevin and go for the Inside Man. Trust me. You wil enjoy the ride! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 4/15/2006A review of Inside Man by Anonymous Here is a movie that entertains right from the start, not one of your average takes 30-60 minutes to get you into the plot. From its suprisingly jaunty theme tune, to its excellent crafted script, and its gritty perfomances from Mr Washingotn, Defoe and Owen, i was entertained. Jodie foster while only playing a minor role in this film, was upto her normal acting standards, and would have only distaracted from the rest of the movie, if her part was enlarged. What a catchy theme tune they have used, this should end up in the charts. The film as a whole was well crafted, spun around a moral tale, that didnt give us the all american hero crap. This film will be in for some Oscars im sure. Keep up the good work Spike. Was this review helpful? Sign In 12 out of 14 users found this helpful Posted: 4/11/2006A review of Inside Man by Foce1 it is a great action movie, but when the plot holes are gaping thru the screen, it takes you out of the element. I really respect Denzel Washington, although he has been just cashing a paycheck more often than not in the past 5 years--based on his script choices. Same wtih Jodie Foster, great actress, but not in a lot of great movies lately. Actually you could say the same for Spike Lee, best days behind him. Anyway, actually really enjoyed the movie, especially the cinematography, bank heist with a twist, great actors, etc.
SPOILERS...
It should have been set in an era maybe 30 yrs ago, before infra-red imaging, before the kind of high-tech devices that make the plot seem completely implausable. Also, was there any compelling reason to hold onto incriminating evidence for 50 yrs? Other than that, it was a very entertaining movie. Was this review helpful? Sign In 8 out of 24 users found this helpful Posted: 4/10/2006A review of Inside Man by boredfive1 Six of us paid for the Denzel movie. Three of us got to sleep for a good hour. One of us got voted off choosing any more movies 5 to 1. What the heck were they thinking?? I know what we are thinking about this boring movie. JUST SAY NO!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 4/7/2006A review of Inside Man by Anonymous This movie had everything. It had action, a plot, and some good acting. It was just brilliant. Spike lee is a genius. Clive Owen didnt ( in this movie. There were even a couple of funny lines. The only problem I had was that they dropped the f-bomb just a little too much. Just kidding it was said a lot but not bad enough to take it down a rating. This movie was fing awesome. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 4/7/2006A review of Inside Man by Anonymous I sat in the movie for 45 minutes. I watched the beginning with the bank scenes thinking, OK, Bank robbers curse... I understand. Then after every victim was cursing and Jodi Foster was called the C word while she pranced around in her heels (that she was very impressed with) I walked. Got my money back. The strangest thing to me is how someone could sit in a movie like this with every other line with F and not even notice. A few conversations with friends that saw it, they didnt even notice. I thought the story would have had great promise but could sit through being offended. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
