It's one of the best Indiana Jones films. I don't think it was too dark. It is an amazing film. Was this review helpful? Not only is the action better, but there was more special effects. To me this darker second film, is the best of the triogy. Just like the "empire strikes back" of the "Star Wars" saga. I suggest you go by the fantasitic dvd pack that just came out, and watch the second film " The Temple of doom", and you will see that this film has more thrills, chills, laughs, and action then the other two installments. You may think it's silly to judge a movie from an 8-year-old point of view, but then again, who says that how we see movies is never a matter of perception anyway? This was my first Indiana Jones movie. When I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark afterwards, I did think it was lots of fun, but I was hardly as thrilled as before. I guess I had the same problem as those who thought otherwise: the two movies are different. You watch Raiders and expect the same kind of movie from Temple of Doom which turns out to be a dark, scary, atmospheric, lightening-paced visual thrill which many would rather take comfort in calling dumb than daring, just to prove themselves discriminating. Well, suit yourselves. To me, what makes it my personal favorite in the series (not speaking artistically) is the awesome feeling that Indy's gone back in time to experience the blast of the past of the darkest corners of India... instead of just digging for what's left of it in modern Egypt. (Ok, maybe not so modern, but you know what I mean.) He fights scary-lookin baddies who carry swords and wear these really cool outfits... instead of those skinny-ass germans in Raiders and Last Crusade. ugh! Wont say any further than this except... go see it if you haven't... and if you have, and didn't like it, then be a little more daring and adventurous enough to wanna see it again but from more appreciative eyes. And I'll try doing the same with Raiders, deal? Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-4 of 4 Per Page | ||
