Bad storyline. Failed to keep my attention and my daughter was ready to go after 40 minutes. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful I am sad that i just wasted an hour and a half of my life on this movie.. It was aweful!! My son didnt enjoy it and in fact he fell asleep within the first half hour.. I would not recommend this movie to anyone as to they would be wasting their money.. as i did!! The little animal trying to kill itself was enough for me.. That was something that could have been left out in my mind.. HORRIBLE!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful I was disgusted by this movie. The previews did not provide me with anything that would infer that the target audience of the movie should be teenagers. 20 minutes into the movie we left with our two children (ages 3 and 5) and asked for a refund.
I understand that the movie is rated PG. We have been fine with several other animated movies that received the PG rating. Most of the time, the few adult-themed jokes go over the heads of my kids. And I'm OK with occasional potty humor. By within 5 minutes of the beginning of the movie, I had already witnessed several references to stereotyping, jokes about illegal substances, name calling, and sexual inferrences that my 5 year old started asking questions about. Perhaps the worst part was the rabbit who was cursed with being the subject of an experiment that made him immortal. He tried several times to kill himself by drinking poison, blowing himself up, being shot in the head (which was graphically done), hanging, and being electrocuted. They used the term "suicidal" several times in a joking fashion.
The jokes not only were not funny to me, but I did not hear one laugh coming from the audience the vast majority of the time. There were a couple of humorous moments, but the kids in the audience sat stone-faced watching this atrocity while the parents chuckled uncomfortably.
Do not take your children to see this movie. It would have been well deserving of a PG-13 rating. I am by no means a prude, nor do I shelter my children. However, there was nothing redeeming about this movie -- it wasn't funny, witty, didn't teach any moral lessons, and did not amuse them. It was a total waste of 20 minutes, and will require a great deal of "undoing" in my children. Was this review helpful? The animation, the Peter Doyle score and the writing all worked well. The characters are interesting/funny and the superb voice cast really bring them to life. The plot is a real 'feel good' story with a good versus evil lesson. My kids thought it was great and want to go and see it agin this weekend, me too. A good fun family movie.
