the movie has twist and turns and sad parts. but it doesnt drag out.
if you liked the cotton club and harlem nights, than u will love this movie.
its worth buying and renting.

The one-dimensional movie critics who cannot stretch their imaginations beyond the weird, exceedingly laborious, journeys into oscar-winning movies. They will not get this movie. They are just too out touch to understand this one. Idlewild is a conglomeration of hip-hop, RB and just real music layered over a story set in the 30s. Lots of great things happening here the costumes, the music, the dance, the acting... all is above average. This one is a great one to enjoy. It wont be winning any awards it was not made by the right industry folks. And arent we glad? I am so tired of the usual banal offerings. If youre looking for fun, this ones for you... It was a great movie, which far exceeded my expectations. The storyline was creative, the characters were entertaining and the cinematogrophy was outstanding. I consider myself a bit of a movie snob, but this was a great one. I read a review in which the reviewer commented that it was like one long video. After seeing this movie, my only retort is that, it is a fantastic music filled movie, very similiar to chicago and moulin rouge (other musical type movies that received the accomadations they deserved), not to mention that the soundtrack will have you tapping your toes in the theater. Dre and Big Boi were not bad in their first starring role, and of course Howard is brilliant as usual, and Paula Patton is to die for very lovely indeed. Outkast, did something different ( as always) and it came out beautifully. It refreshing to see the other side of black cinema in a different light. Dont be so quick to judge, give it a chance.

I took my girl friend out to see this movie and we both left sad. I believe her death to be POINTLESS. Theres enough bad happing around the world, whats so bad about a happy ending. I mean, what did her dying represent? I would totally understand if this were a documentary or based of a true story, but its not. She just as well could have been on stage with Percivile at the end of the movie...well minus the dancers. Why cant I leave a movie happy for a change. Was this review helpful? Compared to all the over bulls that is in the movie theaters that portray nothing but negative images and placing negative stereotypes this movie is great. Movie theaters across the world need more movies like this. And for the ones who keep talking about Idlewild is actually in Michigan who the fck cares, for real to you, I say get a got damn life seriously. Its a movie not a history movie it doesnt have to be real you big dummys. Thats why Andre 300 and Big Boi are the ones getting the props and youre sitting at home writing stupid reviews. How about you try to get on their level and write a movie and lets see how it does, I think it wouldnt be so hot though cuz you ! for writing such stupid comments and ur main review is based on the location of it thats stupid. The cast, storyline, emotional attachments, songs and dancing were great!!!!! For future movies, this needs to be the example of what to follow, instead of stupid movies like Hustle and flow. I really enjoyed their performances in this movie and it made me grow to like them as entertainers. I really liked the 1930s set-up, the cast, the dancing and the music, the music was really the best part to me, some of the songs had me dancing in my seat. And Andre, I always thought he was the weird one out of the duo, but ladies you might fall in love with him after you see him act this film, and Big Boi I dont know much about him, but it seems like he kept it real in this movie. But overall it is a pretty good movie, I did a little laughing and crying, and if you havent seen it or still undecided, I would definitely recommend Idlewild. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
