Glad I didn't go see it in the theatres, but it was a good rental. If you want a couple of laughs with a not too complicated plot, swing over to video store and give it a try. Its ok, but cheesy at the end....save your money. They sing a musical ending...and not very well....boring! Was this review helpful? It was long and made no other point than so many movies I have seen already Dont cheat on your wife or you will feel guilty. The girlfriend was annoying, the profile of the characters were weak. The good jokes were all on the previews. Some people left in middle of the movie, I wish Ive done the same. Go home to watch Everybody Hates Chris. Was this review helpful? Some of you need to calm down with that one. This movie was actually good, though. I enjoyed the twists and turns. Was this review helpful? I had a few laughs which is hard for me. I think this is one of Chris Rocks better movies. I just now read most of the reviews posted and I just have to say that if you werent expecting there to be curse words then maybe you shouldve seen something else. But I agree with most of the positive reviews. I think it did have a lot of messages across the board. But they couldve done without the singing towards the end. It was funny though. So overall it was cute. i would see it again. ) Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 3/21/2007A review of I Think I Love My Wife by Anonymous I thought this movie was hilarious! I did not appreciate the overused profanity, but I got the message. It really was not just about being bored and celibate or being directed just at wives. This movie had some pretty eye opening messages in it for married couples, and yes, there are many struggles these days in most marriages, but as long as you work at it, it is really a beautiful thing. What my husband and I got from the movie is about appreciating what you have in one another and having good communication between each other versus assumption and speculation. This movie covered many marital aspects across the board and it is a good conversational piece as well. Kudos Chris Rock, I think you set out to do just what you did, get our attention! But after being bored by Sandy Bullocks Premonition, I decided I needed a chuckle or two and was pleasantly suprised by the humor and story line. Yes the language was very crude, ( and that was probably the reason why my wife didnt like it,) but I only saw one family get up an leave and shortly there after the father came back in (must of told his kids to go to another movie). Maybe if a more seasoned director had handled those duties, the movie may have been better, but I thought Chris did good job of writing, directing and starring in it. Seems like some people just dont appreciate Mr. Rocks humor if it is in an acting role. I think C-Rock needs to pair himself up with Will Smith or Denzel in a movie and broaden his audience beyond the hard comedy circuit.... Ignore the negative reviews and go support mr rock and see the movie...you will enjoy it. Both Kerry and Gina give good performances too. Was this review helpful? Chris is actually talking to wives and lovers who do not realize that not satisfying their man opens the door for him to wander. Actually he was kind to the premise of how far a man will go. Ladies, forget the potty mouth and pay attention to the message to keep your man satisfied and if he really loves you he will return the favor. Was this review helpful? All the funny parts are in the previews, but besides that the film was frustrating. The main character was getting on my damn nerves, how does an intelligent man let some lady come into their workspace and jeapordize their job or reputation at work? As a married man I couldnt relate to what he was going through, I guess its because Im not there yet, but not all married people are bored and celebate. The jokes were uncomfortable and inappropriate. After the audience is led to care for the wife and kids they are then expected to think its funny when this guy is being a scumbag.
One star because the women in the movie were fun to look at. Thats pretty much it though. Was this review helpful? To my surprise, I liked it a lot and heard plenty of laughs from the few others in the theater. If youre a guy married with children (and Im not), I think youll definately relate to it.
It doesnt have a lot of slapstick comedy or over-the-top type pranks that usually fill up previews. It was slightly more realistic with Chris Rocks narrative right on the mark. Yep, they could easily replace a good 10 F words out of the movie as it tends to take you out of the story. But the R rating should eliminate the kids who probably couldnt relate to the age and circumstances of the characters anyway.
And if you find yourself craving some fart jokes, a fat suit, or another hit-in-the-groin level humor, you can always sneek into Norbit or Wild Hogs afterwards for some brain free chuckles. I could have rented Guide for the Married Man with Walter Matthau...

Chris Rock should stick to stand up comedy because so far none of his movies have made it in the box office. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
