The top 10 biggest box office failures," I found that this movie was rated at number 9. It makes me wonder if anyone has watched it. When I saw it, I enjoyed it very much. Sure, it's not like most of the movies Bruce Willis has done, but it does have its charm and certainly does not deserve the royal ripping it got in the article. The plot was clever, and although the occasional bursting into song by the characters was a little lame, it had more consistancy than your average two hours of Bruce Willis blowing things up, leaping from tall structures, and kicking ass. I'm not an accountant and if a studio can't control the green stuff or its employees (the box office take was $17 million, the budget was easily over $60 million) it sounds like a management problem to me.<br>(rant over)<br><br>Hudson Hawk (Bruce Willis) is a cat burglar with a gimmick: he times his jobs by singing 40's pop tunes. Joined by Tommy Five-Tone (Danny Aiello), Hudson is blackmailed by the Mayflowers (Sandra Bernhard, Richard E. Grant) into leaving retirement to steal crystals needed to make gold from lead using an invention designed by Leonardo DaVinci. With Andie MacDowell as Anna Baragli to represent the Vatican's interest, James Coburn as the mercenary CIA man George Kaplan, and a team of henchman named after candy bars (David Caruso is a great "Kit Kat"), the plot ends up all over the place, the acting over-the-top, and the pace is frantic at times. It even looks like the actors had fun making the movie.<br><br>Right! It's a comedy!<br><br>The natural rapport between Aiello and Willis makes their scenes even funnier. Their attack on the Mayflowers' fortress is hilarious.<br><br>The movie is full of scenes that make you laugh, maybe groan a little. All in all it's a fun watch and I recommend it. You might even catch yourself singing along with the boys on "Swingin' on a Star". Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful  Hudson Hawk rullsPosted: 8/16/2003A review of Hudson Hawk by hoompin I dont know whos the idiot who clasified this movie as an action movie, but this is one of the most brilient comedies ever writen, and i honestly dont care if the "American public" dont like this movie, hey they are the same ppl who prefered Julia roberets in Preety woman over Sara Goldberg in requiem for a dreem. so yes the movie didn't make what they thought it would but i like it and over here almost everyone like it, its funny and smart. and $*^* you all if you cant understand it.. And he wrotea good deal of it too! Imaginative with amazing/incredible but (humorously human) characters. I cant recommend this movie strongly enough! Just the right amount of velveeta cheese....
