My 6-year-old stayed on the edge of his seat smiling and totally absorbed through the whole thing. My husband and I were both either laughing or crying (in some parts), but we were both loving the entire film. This is great entertainment for the whole family. If you are only looking to view a possible Oscar nominated film.....don't bother. This is a movie to watch if you truly just want to watch a fun and entertaining film. The actors were all wonderful and believable, the animals were wonderfully trained and we fell in love with each one as they were brought in to the show. We did not see a single person in the theater even leave to get food or go to the bathroom. Everyone was glued to what was happening on screen and did not want to chance missing whatever would happen next. If you love animals and children, have a good sense of humor and a heart that feels emotion, you will also fall in love with this movie......only someone without those things will rate this movie in a negative way. The actors are warm and believable and the canines are as funny as they are genuine. This is one movie that I would see over and over and highly recommend for both children and adults. Even if you are not an animal lover, this story will capture your heart. Was this review helpful? No, I'm done, that's the entire story. The title is flat and not interesting, which explains why it was #9 at the box office opening weekend, behind "Gran Torino" and "My Bloody Valentine 3-D". I'm not going to lie to you, the acting wasn't that great. I hate Jake T. Austin and Kyla Pratt, and Emma Roberts was awful in Nickelodeon's "UnFabulous" a few years back. But her and Don Cheadle (nope, not kidding about this one, either)was the best actor/actress in "Hotel for Dogs". She belongs on the big screen, not on TV. Don Cheadle, I could NOT believe he was in a low-budget Nickelodeon movie, had a surprisingly fitting role. The story is pretty annoying (I never want to hear the word "dog" again, good GOD), and the dialogue gets on your nerves after a while, too. But towards the end, you begin to grasp a message, or, vibe. "Dogs are people, too." Pretty simple, huh? Well, it's a kids movie, and I think I'm being a little too hard on it. "Hotel for Dogs" is great for a family watch, or if you just want to see a movie that makes you feel good inside. I give "Hotel for Dogs" 3/5 stars. Was this review helpful? The movie drags and even had my 9 year old daughter asking how much longer was left one hour in. Wait for the DVD on this one. Was this review helpful? I brought my two kids and the neighbors kids ages 6-10 and everyone enjoyed the movie. The movie was very entertaining and we all went away with smiles on our faces. My kids loved the little dogs and spoon throwing machine :) We actually stayed and watched the credits with all the dogs and I learned later that many of those dogs were adopted. How cool is that!! Take your kids and go see the movie. Its a must see for kids and worth it. Was this review helpful?
