Date  Helpful Rating 1 out of 2 users found this helpful  Lovely moviePosted: 8/11/2007A review of Hook by Stalker800 Let me start off by saying that the critic who wrote the review for this movie either must not have a liking towards classic movies for the family or he fell asleep watching the movie and threw together the crap that he called his review.
This movie has a wonderful storyline with great actors such as Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams, and Julia Roberts along with a great director. Filled wtih fantasy and a wonderful moral at the end I can say that this is truly a great film and one of Spielbergs finest.
The critic needs to get his head out of his you know. Was this review helpful? This is one of the best, if not, THE BEST movie I have ever seen in my life. Im 18 years old and still would not mind watching this movie over and over again. It has a brilliant and original concept. This was no where near Spielbergs worst. This was Spielberg at his best, one of his masterpieces. I could not see this movie getting any better than it already is. The only thing I would criticize here is the critic himself. Perry, go for another round in film school... Was this review helpful? Like that stupid critic Perry Seibert. This has to be one of the best movies ever made! Dustin Hoffman portrays Hook like no other and Robin Williams as Peter Pan (grown up) couldnt get any better! Not only was this movie great but it was also original! And how could you not enjoy the movie score? John Williams did a great job on creating the score for Hook! I first saw this movie when I was about 10, and now that I am 16 I still love it. Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams are two great actors and made this movie even better. It is very interesting to see what happened to Peter Pan and Wendy after they grew up. When Rufio and Peter Pan called each other names it was hilarious Was this review helpful? Now I'm 14 and I've seen the movie like a 100 times, but I still want to see it again. Robin Williams is a great actor with a huge talent, he can do any kind of movies (from comedy to drama). The cast of the movie is excellent and Dustin Hoffman did an excellent job too. Was this review helpful? Ending up in the movie tearing up.. He is now 13 and has asked for me to get him a dvd of the movie.. He really likes the movie and I do too.. Was this review helpful? Barrie themes.<br><br>In this first live-action treatment, we see harried businessman Peter Banning as a pre-occupied upper middle class breadwinner who like many before him, has let his career preclude his family to the point of forgetting his focus on the things that really matter to him. But a stern interloper disrupts his castle and threatens almost certain discord forcing him to return to a long forgotten time and place with the help of some old friends in hopes he will re-claim the legacy of a lost boy. <br><br>Robin Williams and Julia Roberts have never been more charming in this beautiful adaption of the popular Children's Hospital tale. It boggles my mind how so many critics in print couldn't latch on to such a simple premise. I can't for the life of me imagine what they were expecting and I fail to see even a modicum of their whining. This film is far and away superior to the Disney version which was'nt even as faithful to the original text. Maggie Smith lends the most sainted charm and veteran character man Arthur Malet gives one of the best performanes of his career. Dustin Hoffman was one of the last people I would've cast in the role but manages a very dignified comedy in his portrayal along with Bob Hoskins plus it's teriffic to see Phil Collins drop in. An articulate and stylish re-telling in every sense. See if you can find a gently camouflaged Glenn Close. Was this review helpful? Under a self comforting exterior of good casting and special effects, it indulges itself in incoherent pacing and senseless writing. It's not as enchanting or magical as it desires to be; before this, I'd never seen a more inferior treatment of a popular fairy tale for cinematic adaption. Who knew Peter would get married and grow up. And to go back to NeverLand to save his kids who Hook stole. Hook still wishes to kill Peter. All the boys are there and most happy to see Peter even Tinker Bell. I think any one should buy this for there kids who love the Peter Pan shows. Was this review helpful? But I must warn you parents you'll have to forward over the s-c-a-r-ybits. They could be scary even for audlts. Robbin Williams and Julia Roberts are fantastic as Peter Pan and Tinker Bell.
