A must have for both the hardcore Highlander fan and the casual "Watcher". Was this review helpful? Then I saw Highlander III which was playing in theatres at the time. I thought "Alright, pretty much the same as the original, but not as good". So, naturally I had to go and see the 2nd Highlander movie to fill in the gap between the other two films. Not only did "The Quickening" not fill in the gap, it made it wider and deeper about a thousand times over. People had warned me about Highlander 2 before I rented it...but did I listen? No. Not only is Highlander 2 the worst sequel I have ever seen, but perhaps the worst movie as well. The whole movie is one big plot hole. I think a retarded dog could write a better script. No matter how hard you try to make sense of this movie it just doesn't work. I could probably write a whole book about how bad this movie is, so I'm not going to get into any real specifics. Go and rent it and see for yourself. I doubt you'll be able to last the whole 90 minutes without reaching for the barf bag. <br><br>So a couple years ago I saw a copy of the "Renegade Version" sitting in the bargain bin at Circuit City. I bought it because I heard it was "sooooo much better" than the original. Well, I disagree. Infact, I think it's worse than "The Quickening". They managed to replace some of the old plot holes with some brand new ones, making the film 19 minutes longer in the process. So now I hear there's a new "Special Edition" coming out on 7/20. Save your money. Here's a good quote from a fan of the movie regarding the special edition of this movie "Well, you can't polish a turd............"<br>So true. Was this review helpful? The game was won, the good guy beat the bad guy. What a disappointing sequel. The original movie had one premise there are immortals amongst us who chop off each others heads gaining power until one remains, the winner. If you could handle the premise the rest of the story was believable, exciting and made you try to think in the shoes of an immortal. But the sequel had you trying to believe in some weird religion, aliens, trans dimensional travel, punks on skateboards weilding swords, an ozone shield. The fight scenes were as absurd as the plot. I could have written a better script myself. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-3 of 3 Per Page | ||
