I bought this movie on DVD and loved it. You can convert it into english and remove subtitles. Great fighting and good plot, watching it in HD is awesome!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 3 users found this helpful This movie was awfull. Not only was it boring but after a while the special effects became annoying. I was getting a headache from all the flying leaves and waving curtains. Bad movie. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 6 users found this helpful Posted: 12/6/2004A review of Hero by kernie_aka_the_sheep this movie was awful. had i not wanted to find out how it ended i would have stopped watching after the first half hour. it was completely confusing, very dull, and the subtitles totally &*^*ed. they could have made this movie in 30 minutes. skip all the times that it took for the king to finally figure the story out right and it would have been better. the only good thing about this movie was the use of color and the first couple fight scenes. i found it sort of ironic that every time nameless supposedly killed someone, they would be wearing a different color. also the fight scenes were pretty cool but got boring after awhile Was this review helpful? Sign In 3 out of 3 users found this helpful This movie, simply put, is amazing. It execels expectaions in every aspect.... Great plot and storytelling, beautifully shot and the action is breathtaking. By far the best Jet Li movie and Asian film star Maggie Cheung carries the movie. I have had the Asian dvd for quite sometime now and am dissapointed to see that Quintin T. has stamped his name on the US DVD (he has nothing to do with it) and that is artwork features Zhang Ziyi (who has maybe 10 min screentime tops) rather than Maggie Cheung. Fortunately, niether of these complaints affects the movie....again, is simple awesome...go buy it today and add this incredible movie to your collection. Was this review helpful? The plot was really good, and the effects, not bad but not great either.. Even though it is PG, I would not reccomend children (like under 10) to go see it because it would be extremely confusing to them. This movie is defiantly worth seeing in the theaters, and I will for sure buy the DVD! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful This movie was absolutely magnificent. The story has the classic Quentin Terentino flashback story telling down to a tee. This at times confusing way of story telling gets the point across for those who can grasp it (i.e. those with half a brain) in a very powerful way. It leaves those with a philisophical mind to wonder, was it all worth it? and would i have done the same? It's clearly much more than just a gravity defying sword fighting movie. It shows how far movie making has come, it's at the point where "action" movies can actually have a good backbone (story). This movie has very artistic fight sequences that leave you with your jaw dropped to the floor. The range of colors used in the movies help with the story telling and make for eye catching fight scenes. The subtitles add a real foreign atmosphere to this film. So if you can appreciate a good story (with great character development) as well as some eye popping cinematography, I hghly recommend you going out and watching this movie.
This film is not recommended for the dyslexic or for those fans of pure action. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful If you haven't seen 'Hero' and you are a fan of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,' you need to go. Though I prefer the story of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,' 'Hero' was very good. Jet Li has all the right moves, but a great fight choreographer is to thank for that as well. The story is interesting and the idea to shoot each person's view of how the plot advanced made the film even more enjoyable. My favorite thing was the gorgeous cinematography and costumes. The scene in the forest of leaves was absolutely beautiful! The Chinese certainly know how to tell a good story... Was this review helpful? I cried thorugh out the whole movie. It was extremely good! Was this review helpful? The colour change is amazing and the stunts are breath-taking.
The story line is a bit confusing. For better info, go to see again and again, for verification. Or to just see the martial arts and wire-fighting manouevrs! Was this review helpful? It was the photography that was so outstanding. The colors of the costuming and the location scenes of China were spectacular. Some of the special effects were really stunning. All in all it was a well done film. Was this review helpful? A movie should not be strenuous to watch. I like Jet Li but he has gone from excellent to very poor. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 4 users found this helpful Might i say first that this is not a Quinten film. If you do not like his movies you can still enjoy this one. Really it is a wonderful story through and through though the significance of each scene seems to be lost on an audience with little understanding of Chinese history. Fans of action and martial arts may find this movie entertaining, but this is not a gore fest and most of the fighting is stylised.
More-so i think fans of Law and Order would enjoy this movie, as it seeks to find motive and justification for actions, and to explore the price of unity. Even until the final scene were viewers have to ask if the final action is jsutified but a greater outcome.
Fans of CSI will apreciate its re-evaluation of details inorder to determine the actual chain of events.
It is subtitled so if you dont like that then dont bother seeing it. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
