The reason? Adam Sandler had become more of an adult in this one. He played the character well, and lets just face it, the fight with Bob Barker is seriously hilarious. When I saw this the first time after it was released, I just simply hated Chris McDonald, even though he was great at being bad, it was hilarious to hear his screams at the end of the movie. Another favorite character is that Potter guy, played by Kevin Nealon. Sandler was right about him in this movie He is a psycho. But, this movie is very much my favorite one of Adam Sandlers movies. The one thing that makes me love this movie so much is Lynyrd Skynyrd singing Tuesdays Gone at the beginning and end of this movie. And just a message to Sandler, you rocked in this movie!!! Some examples of this theme include Happy's goal of getting the money to save his grandmother's home from foreclosure, the lower rungs of the economic latter being brought into the elitest golfing world, and the sexism of ";Shooter"; McGavin in not taking the woman journalist seriously. There are some more subtle instances of injustice, like the homeless man being carried away by a policeman for washing Happy's car. But the most important thing is not that the movie showed these injustices, but that its hero (Happy Gilmore...duh!) combated them. Hopefully, many of the movie's biggest fans (who probably are not particularly concerned with these issues) learned some lessons about companionship with our fellow man, even though the movie's biggest flaw was that the link to the social theme was not as strong as it should have been. But it's still a GREAT movie for all the reasons mentioned! Was this review helpful?
