I dont get it. The songs? Marilyn Monroe and Elvis? Yes, because compared to Christina Agularas Candyman, those age-old lyrics are so scandalous! Lets talk about sex, baby? Uh, dude, thats like, insanely tame to what some artists are singing on the radio now. Not to mention Norma Jean says Not on your life! to the penguins that sang it. Um, the penguins dont have sex either. They dont even kiss (hello, beaks.) They dont do anything. At all. Sometimes they swim together. And look into each others eyes. And then, mysteriously, an egg appears.
This movie isnt political either. Is stopping over-fishing political? I didnt know helping the environment was against someones morals.
The reasons I didnt enjoy this movie to the fullest was the fact that they jumped around, the last 48 minuites seemed as it was thrown in to make the movie longer than an hour, I think the whole movie could have just been about Mumble and not random problems that really had nothing to do with why Mumble was an outcast.
Robin Williams was funny. I like big tails and I cannot lie!. No one under the age of 10 will realize thats an old 80s song referencing butts. Theyll probably wont even laugh because they wont get it. Yeah, kids are smart. But unless theyve been exposed to MTV at an early age, (which, if they have, you obviously wont care about any of the songs) THEY WONT GET IT.

Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful PRETTY GOOD MOVIE WORTH RENTINGPosted: 4/5/2007A review of Happy Feet by JCaldwell704 Happy feet was a very good movie, kids will stayed clued to the tv. there are some very funny parts to it especailly the mexican peinguins and robin williams did a wonderful job in it. the movie has that adult sense of humor that kids cant pick up on. lol especailly lovelace character voiced by robin williams.
some parts did drag abit towards the end, but it picked back up.
i could watch it over, but not something i would buy. its diff worth renting.
i was kinda turned off because the movie didnt have any other ethnic voices or ethnic celebrites in it and i think the movie could have really used it. chris rock, tiger woods, john leguzumo, j-lo, puff daddy, queen latifah, somebody. lol
like robin williams played the mexican peinguins, but all the songs where songs by minority people, but song by britney murphy, elijah woods and hugh jackmen, nicole kidman.
thats why i gave it three stars.

I was about to take my 6 year daughter to see the movie for her 7th birthday today. Your reviews set me straight. I dont know if its political or not, but I am confident by the reviews that if any of the penguins mentioned or talked to his or her creator or Savior that the five star reviews would have dropped. Its not the one for today. Charlotte - were coming to see you today. Hey, shes 7!
By the way, yes! I am one of those Bible believing conservatives that most of the five stars are intollerable of. I find in a world of tolerance...theres not much room for us. It was like taking my child to a animated porn. It had lots of sexual songs, saying and just plain insulting. Not to mention my 4 year old was bored out of his mind. We got up and walked out. This movie was great, both for me and my 3 year old son. Like, one of the reviews had negative comments on the actual life of a penguin. They stated why does the male penguin stay behind while the female goes to get fish, what is the male suppose to do, starve. That is a stupid comment, that is the way penquins live. The male hunts fish and eats first, then the male returns to the female to take over egg responsibilties, then the female has to go eat or she will die. The male endures the harsh winter protecting the egg and waits on the female to return. This movie acutally is accurate in some aspects of an actual penquins life. Educational? Someone also commented on Mombo keeping his fur longer than anyone else-if they would have paid attention, they would have relized that the father dropped the egg during that winter and it was exposed the elements and could have caused develpmental problems for Mombo, it never said it, but it was ovious. It also helped distiquish Mombo from the other penquins for the children watching the movie (penquins kinda look alike you know). And some other comment, referring to being offended, come on, really, its a kids movie, a funny kids movie at that. Some parts are not intended to be taken seriously or literally(like most every movie). Think people and political???Why can every thing be turned political? It is a kids movie that is smart and trys to offer something to the adults watching......The movies musicical sequences were great, the actual story laid out perfectly ..I enjoyed the movie very much the over all environmental issues and human-nature issues it brings up are good and appropiate, and I would recommend this movie to anybody that enjoys a good story, a few laughs, etc. And some children will be entertained and some will not, but that is true when you speak of everything else and children. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  I ended up really liking itPosted: 1/8/2007A review of Happy Feet by chocoflwr I have to admit, at first it seemed like the movie wasnt really going anywhere (and Im a grown Disney movie fanatic), but then I soon realized thats because I wasnt properly paying attention. This movie had such depth, that is was unbelievable. The animation was breathtaking, I mean cmon the scene of them walking through the blizzard made me shiver. This movie was so life-like and there were so many different treats to enjoy as it went on. It touched so many levels.
I honestly feel after reading user reviews for so long, that people go to the theatre with their minds closed these days. They cant appreciate true artistry anymore. I walked away from this movie feeling extremely good and environmentally concsious. Im going to buy the soundtrack this week. I recommend this movie only to people who actually want to be entertained and can appreciate a great story. Was this review helpful? The best thing about it was the medium bag of popcorn we all shared! He was bored and so was I. Afterwards my husband said the same. I kept thinking it would get better but it didnt. The last movie we all saw was The Nativity Story which was terrific. Dont take older kids to this expecting them to like it. I wish I had let Jimmie pick the movie now. I wouldnt recommend this movie as even small kids would be bored as it seemed to go on forever. Was this review helpful? This movie was a good pick me up and it was very enjoyable especially to the references of Elvis Presly and Marilyn Monroe. Robin Williams as usual out does himeslf and I hope that he continues to work on projects such as these.
Im sorry that I didnt catch this sooner when it was first released, but Im glad that I did over the weekend. Cant wait for the DVD! Was this review helpful? It was long, it wasnt funny and I found it offensive at parts. I have four children, all girls, ages 17,14,13, and 10. None of them found anything to like about this movie either.
