I watched it over at my friend's house, and he liked it, but I did not. Now, the first half of the movie is actually really good. It's almost like a super-hero version of "Rocky". There's this bum who has the potential to be something great, then somebody comes along and turns him into a hero. Now, I thought that this was kind of an original and creative idea because you normally think of super-heroes as big hot-shots who are perfect, but this guy has problems and everybody hates him. This part of the movie was really cool and I liked it. Then, out of nowwhere, the movie dives into this really bizarre plot about how Hancock is immortal and that he has a sister who is married to his friend's wife and how whenever the two get near eachother they become mortal, and whenever they fight a big hurricane comes and destroys the city. Ok... WHAT?!!! That aspect of the movie really weakens it and leaves you really confused. It's almost like it's two completely different movies crammed into one. The latter half of the movie has nothing to do with the preceding half. They should of stuck with the story in the first half, because that one was a lot more appealing. Better than Batman? Your children were laughing when Hancock was flying drunk and groping women? He should have gotten arrested for FWI and sexual assault and have his powers taken away. Kids were swearing over and over and you think that's cool? You people are messed up! Will Smith is a terrible actor and he'll never be a great actor. He try to hard to be funny but he's not and he's never serious. Hancock is an awful example of a true classic hero. He ruined Wild Wild West and Omega Man big time. I can't believe you Hancock fans don't know what good classic movie is all about. You followers are brainwashed and have no class. Ronald Reagan would have never approved this movie, but Obama would. Today the entire family - me, husband, 19 year old daughter and her boyfriend, and 16 year old son decided to give it a try. We all really liked it. Never found it slow. Plot twists were surprising. All in all a worth seeing movie. I give 5 stars only to the cream of the crop. This wasn't that but I would certainly recommend seeing it. Was quite funny and had a good story as well. And we also have to remember that this was made by the same folks behind I Am Legend. Will puts a laughable rediculous performance. The way he is flying in the air in the beginning tends to be nautious for some. The camera angles were bad, and the story was off course. The humor was lame. On the positive side, the movie offers above average effect, and a hot woman known as Charleize Theron (her name is hard to spell). It had so much potential, but was used to it's worst. This prompted my curiosity to see this movie. After seeing this movie, I compared some of the critics’ ratings for this and other movies that aren't even in the same league as this one and found their poor reviews perplexing. It was excellent to say the least. The plot twist and principle may explain the attempts to steer audiences away from this movie as it attacks the common stale cord that has been bombarded at us; as if we can't think for ourselves and we can't handle any divergence from the norm. They miss it! This is exactly the great appeal of this movie. As far as bad language, if you can handle the phrase "*** hole" that is pretty much the only profanity and it is an important trigger that helps define the characters. This was funny, visual, smart, and non-pretentious; see it! Was this review helpful?
