There we some parts that were not made elucidate. But other than that the movie was really good. I'm a fan of musicals so I was defenitly happy. Penny's mother is a complete Yenta, however her personality, though insane, is hilarious. She often ados about her daughter, however it is completely unnecessary. There weren't too many MacGuffin like moments which were very nice, and helpful. Overall though the movie was great!

This movie was awsome. It was so good I don't even know how to describe it. They did a great job transferring Broadway to Big Screen. I loved it. I defintly would pay to see it again and I loved it so much that I'm waiting to get money so I can buy it on DVD.

Musical re-make of the 70's pop-culture show. In 1962 Baltimore, the teenage musical pulse is tracked on a popular local TV dance show hosted by an emcee with the unlikely name of Corny Collins. By far, Corny and the Gang's biggest devotee is Tracy Turnblad, a slightly corpulent dancin' diva who is permanently colorblind when it comes to societal prejudices. Holding her big wish to be on the show, she copes with school by cavorting with her cronies in the Detention Hall and self-promoting the occasional "Negro Day" on Corny's show. Meantime, Tracy's introvert Mother Edna and slightly tilted but supportive Father Wilbur lend moral support in their own way while Ex-Model and Producer Velma Von Tussle tries shamelessly to promote her own Daughter on Corny's Venue. Sparks eventually ignite when Tracy may be considered for a featured spot OVER Amber Von Tussle as Evil Velma tries to torpedo Tracy using her Father. But Tracy is nothing if not resourceful and sets about resolving her machinations by most interesting methods. Right out of the gate, Nikki Blonski as Tracy explodes us into the story with "Good Moning, Baltimore" putting me in mind of "Little Shop's" Ellen Greene and "Suddenly Seymour" with a dynamite voice propelling a brisk pace for the ensemble including Queen Latifa and the incredible Taylor Parks as "Little Inez". Comedy counterpoint is provided in bizarre spades by veterans John Travolta as Edna (ala Divine) and Christopher Walken who's dance sequence with Travolta is about as off-the-wall as you get with romance. Along with Michelle Pfeiffer, a trio joins in from the former production headed by Original Director John Waters, Jerry Stiller as Mr. Pinky and Ricki Lake. Director Adam Shankman does great Homage and Tribute at the same time. Probably the Best Musical production of 2007 Cinema.

The choreography was outstanding and the movie was enjoyable, but the message about how white people have held blacks down was heavy handed, onerous and oversimplified. Seemed to be a movie looking for a message, it would have been better to stick on the light side and avoid such a controversial subject. Making the viewer sit through a message of how mean old whitey is oppressing poor blacky just to see the otherwise excellent parts of this movie is not only simplistic, but as racial as the very subject it portrays. I know this message is fashionable, but is more far complex and deserves a more balanced approach than

This was seen by my preteen granddaughter & myself as a gir;s night out. She loved the whole thing as much as I did, no generation gap there & for parents who want to teach some history as well as being entertained, take the time after the movie, like the ride home & discuss a time when segregation was a real thing. I know it is a movie my grand daughter & I will discuss for many years to come. OUTSTANDING CAST! GREAT MUSIC! DANCING WAS WONDERFUL! GREART FUN!

From the first song until the finale, this is a fast paced musical with good social messages and excellent performances across the board. Anyone who misses this production is making a big mistake. Nikki, the unknown lead, is remarkable and totally likeable and actually believable.

This is possibly the best movie of the year. It's just so joyful and I don't know what the ginny chick 2 reviews down is talking about because they don't make fun of segregation. The whole movie's about trying to stop segregation. This movie is so funny and fun. It's hard to hold still in your seat. You just wanna get up and dance along with them! The cast is just brilliant. They are amazing! This movie must see!

I am one of those people that generally hate remakes but this movie was so amazing. Brilliant casting choices, the acting was incredible, the singing was great and quite a few very cute cameos if you've seen the original! I loved how the actors kept some of the original cheesiness of the characters but did not make them as over the top as they were. Accomplished discussing racial issues without making the whole audience uncomfortable! This movie sends a strong message while being fun and entertaining!

I wanted my money back. This was the worst movie I have seen in a long time. Don't waste your money on it. Making fun of segregation is not funny.
