I did not think I was going to like this movie but my friends an I were laughing the whole time! One thing I dont really get is why they called it guess who??????If someone knows why could you just write a reveiw answering sashacohenrocks. It is very confusing and i want to know why! It got good reviews from other people that my boyfriend and I decided to see it. The movie was just OKAY, it could go either way. After reading the other reviews, I 100% agree that it totally resembles "Meet the Parents" but with all black people. The movie contains many racist ideas and so forth, so if you are totally uninterested in hearing people make comments about a white guy and a black girl being together, dont see it! Mainly, I thought it would've been a lot funnier and it could've used more exciting moments. Definitely could've been better. Was this review helpful? It does remind of Meet the Parents a lot, that's true. Also the plot could've been a little more exciting.. It felt like something was missing, and they could have made it more funnier. But overall it's a cool movie, if you got nothing else to do and want an easy going entertainment, go see it... In the meantime I think I gotta go take a crap. Thank You. Was this review helpful? I think the film will appeal to everyone because of Kutchers goofy and Bernie Mac's more sophisticated styles of humor. Plus that chic that stars in the movie is hot. Was this review helpful? It is not a classic by any means, but is thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. Bernie Mac was an inspired choice as the father of the prospective bride and he shines.
The only complaint I have is there was a bit too 'sudden' a conversion on Percy's side regarding acceptance of the young man, but I guess a few drinks might do that. Was this review helpful? There was some parts that were really crude comments but they were funny in some matters. I liked it a lot and could see a little romance movie into it too. This really reminded me of how some white and black people treat each other in the world today but at the end it was awesome because it turns to be a happy ending and most of the time it does anyway! Had they named it more honestly "Meet the Black Parents" we would have been forewarned. This waste of time is "Meet the Parents" without the laughs. See Ashton get caught lying about his past ala Ben's cat milking. See Bernie snoop ala Deniro and check his credit report and job status. Watch the two men in an uncomfortable car trip- wait here's some music on the car radio that inspires more awkwardness! Sound familiar? There's moe if you wish to waste your $8 like I did. I was looking forward to seeing this movie and it did not disappoint. This movie was funny all the way through. I thought all the good funny moments might have been used up in the teasers, but they were not. I highly recommend this movie, for the whole family. I was (am) not a big fan of either Bernie Mac or Ashton K., but they are both very good here. Go see this one, you'll enjoy it. Was this review helpful? I don't believe I laughed at Ashton Kutcher at all...Bernie Mac pretty much saved this flick from being a complete snorefest. Zoe Saldana although quite pretty...in my opinion didnt sell her character she just seemed to overact. I did'nt quite feel comfortable with the way they delt with the race issue. Maybe it's because I'm older and I've seen so many in my lifetime. But this one is funny. It has some great moments. I laughed out loud many times. Sure the plot is thin and it's silly at times, but Bernie Mac makes the movie and the supporting cast is great! However, I must say I'm not an Ashton fan and he was disappointing. He has NO chemistry with Zoe Saldana, who by the way is GREAT also. I could absolutely see someone, ANYONE, besides Ashton playing that part much better and making it a much better movie. Many scenes from this movie took too long (as in, after awhile, the point of the scene was overexaggerated and it was time to move on to another topic being discussed in that scene).
