Someone in Hollywood decided the old Tracey/Hepburn magic from the 30's would still work, it didn't. I was embarrased for them. In addition, the movie was "preachy", if I wanted a sermon I'd go to church. Was this review helpful? I fell in love we these seasoned "movie stars"!!Sidney P and Katherine H were fresh and well meshed as an on screen couple.Such a rare and real drama into days lights of inter racial relationships. It doesn't matter if the film was released in 1967 or 2003 it shows honesty & authenticness. This film is TOPS for me! Was this review helpful? It was some of the best acting. . . ever. Katharine Hepburn was suberb. She deserved an Oscar for her performance. It seems that little is said about Spencer Tracy's acting in this movie. I think he as just as good if not better than Katharine Hepburn. His speech at the end of the movie was not only moving and touching, it was done in only a way that Spencer Tracy could do. It was like watching the performance of a great trial attorney. The speech was mesmorizing! It wasn't that the speech was sad it was emotional. Everyone had tears in their eyes. It is hard to believe that he was dying when filming the picture. He died ten days later. The film is about the white daughter of a liberal newspaper owner falling in love with a black physician while vacationing in Hawaii. She falls in love in twenty minutes and the next thing you know she is home to tell her parents that she plans on marrying the doctor. The doctor is performed by Sidney Poitier. He too does an outstanding job of acting. This movie is a classic and should be seen by everyone. Not only does it involve a very touchy and controversial topic, but it has some of the best acting ever. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-5 of 5 Per Page | ||
