Grizzly Man centers on grizzly bear expert Timothy Treadwell. Who periodically journeyed to Alaska to study and live with the bears. He was killed, along with his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, by a rogue bear in October 2003. Timothy Treadwell went to live and study with the bears for 13 summers until one summer the bears had enough. This is documentary. And one of the best documentarys ever made. This movie a interviews with real people that new and loved Timothy Treadwell. Who share the thoughts and feeling about his death. Timothy Treadwell went to schools to share and educate people about the life of a bear. Timothy Treadwell was not a real people person he was a animal person he loved bears. There were seens in this movie were he was in arms length of the bears. There are even times were he briefly touches some of the bears. He has given names to all of the bears he meets. Not only does Timothy live with bears but also foxes there are times were he pets foxes and he puts his tent in between the fox dens. It is park rules that you set up your tent in a open area but Timothy camouflage his tent were the animals cant see him. Timothy Treadwell is a very weird and mysterious person but he loves bears . He loves all animals. Grizzly Man is rated R for Language and Timothy Treadwell cures a lot in the movie. There is footage of the bear attack and a sound tape of the attack. You see and hear neither of the two but it tells you that at one point timothy tells Amie to run. And you hear Amie screaming and yelling. Grizzly Man is a terrific documentary a great adventure. A movie that everyone has to see!

By not playing the tape of the attack, the film leads the viewer to the edge, but doesnt allow him to look over into the abyss. That makes for terrible filmmaking, in my opinion. If they felt it was too horrific to listen to, they should not have embarked on the journey of trying to convey the dangers and consequences of man carelessly inhabiting Grizzly bear country. Ironically, they approached the making of this film with the very fear that Treadwell should have been motivated by when deciding whether or not to start spending time in the Grizzlies habitat. The presence of it in the former led to failure and the absence of it in the latter led to failure, as well...and death.

You dont really have to see or hear Timothys and Amies final scream to get the full impact of the horrifying conclusion to this semi interesting story. You can see more inspirational and educational films about Grizzly bears on National Geographic. The film , most of the time , just shows you what happens when depressed , delusional, hyperactive people that should be on Prozac venture into our precious wilderness. Lets just let bears be bears ok?

I was interest in the film because I read an article in a magazine about it. The article was better with more info like, the park rangers told him over and over that he was playing with fire and he was going to get killed. The film did get the fact across that he did not care and that being eaten by a bear would be an honor. He was a nut, a train wreck, why he thought he was master of Alaska, who knows. It really is a pretty amazing story though. The most intriguing thing was that the attack was caught on tape. It was rated R, why not play it. It show the narrator listening to it with headphones and he says, I dont think anyone should hear this. BOOO!!

This movie was nothing like the reviews from the professional critics. Mr. Treadwell was a fruitcake and a wannabe moviestar (it will only take you a few minutes of watching this movie to arrive at the same conclussion). He became so ridiculous to watch, that we finally turned the movie off. One of the interviewed rescue members stated that he got what he deserved, and I agree. Mr. Treadwell (his stage name) may have had good intentions, but ultimately, he did not repect the grizzlys authority as the greator predator and he invaded their habitat - UNINVITED! My impression is that the grizzlys tolerated this clown every year that he showed up, until the day that one of the grizzlys had had enough. Mr. Treadwell was playing Russian Roulette with these animals and lost. Unfortunately, so did Ms. Huguenard, whom I suspect was completely clueless about the real dangers of their adventure.

I did walk out of this movie. Several things bothered me about this film but most of them centered around making a documentary about a wannabe "croc hunter" that has severe social, substance, and detachment disorders. To say that the film shows anything about the biology of grizzly bears and their place in THEIR habitat and ecosystem is a gross overstatement. Throughout the film there is a continuing theme of Mr. Treadwell developing himself and becoming a bear, although this never occurred. Rather, Mr. Treadwell developed human-like attributes and personalities and then applied them to wild animals to rationalize their interactions. I am still puzzled how anyone who has seen a grizzly in the wild could feel comfortable with their back to them. While the movie does have some "good" footage of Alaska countryside, they should have developed more of what was going on in the surroundings and the narrator should have explained that it wasn't a swarm of mosquitos but a regular summer day. Finally, the narrator should have chosen someone else to do a voiceover and done some editing on his commentary. There were several "awkward" moments throughout the film when the viewer is left wondering what is scripted and what is real.

Critics overrate this movie. Treadwell's artificially sugary voice when directing his performance towards children made me feel squirmy. The overlong discussion with the coroner of the audio tape of him being eaten by the bear was gruesome and should have been cut back. It was as if they made their point and then pondered how much longer they could morbidly review the event before people left the movie theatre. I certainly wanted to walk out at that point. I would not recommend this film (unless you are one of those people who enjoys slowing down at the scene of a fatal car accident so that you can get a good look at the gore). This is not a fakey horror movie, this is an overlong review of a strange guy's misguided behavior and death, set in beautiful landscape.
