This movie was beyond terrible. It missed on almost every attempt at humor. The only part I laughed at was: "What makes you think you're going to kiss me?" CLANG! (she walks into a pole). It was a three-second slapstick moment, and I laughed out loud. For the entire time before and after that scene, I only waited to laugh. I could see the things that were SUPPOSED to be funny, but they weren't. I'm a pretty easy target for movies. I can usually find some way to enjoy any film, especially if I've paid money to see it. The only thing I kept thinking during the movie was, "I bet this looked funny on paper." I wasn't "offended" by the sex scenes, or the nudity, or anything. It was just WAY overdone. After the fourth sex montage, I thought "okay, got it. Had a lot of sex. Moving on?" The use of anything in comedy is an art, and shock value was not artfully used in this film. It didn't make sense that Dane Cook was still friends with his degenerate buddy after twenty years. They never had anything in common, and Dane was always upset at him. They never laughed like they were friends. This movie tried way too hard to be funny, and the harder it tried, the further from funny it was. I wasn't "offended," I just didn't like it. It is rated R!! And it says it is rated R for crude humor as well as nudity!! I mean what did you think you were getting into?! I laughed my butt off and thought it was a very funny movie. However it is to be compared to comedies such as 40 yr old Virgin, Eurotrip, Wedding Crashers, and etc. Not the chick flick romantic comedies (which are usually rated PG-13 I might add) So don't bring anyone that you dont want to expose to some raunchy humor and some nudity! With a rating of R it needed to be X! It was funny in some parts, but not worth the price of a ticket to the theater! Implying sex would have been enough for us to get the point... I cannot believe what you guys are writing. I have seen worse movies on cable TV. If you thought this movie is bad then you chould watch soaps of the day. I thought the movie was great and went to watch it again with my husband. We laughed all through the movie and would love to go watch again. Very disappointed that Hollywood has to resort to this garbage. Jessica Alba was well below average in her acting, much like in many other films. She is way overrated. Back in the 60's this movie would have been rate X and you certainly wouldn't take your mother to see it. The movie was disgusting and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know. Although I wouldn't take my little sister or my parents to this movie, I went with my boyfriend and some friends of ours and we laughed the entire time. Dane Cook is a hilarious comedian, personally I think he should stick to doing what he does best. His acting is a little forced and at times seems like he's just doing a joke from his act. The sex scenes are funny, you just have to laugh at the ridiculous postions and things on the screen. Don't take it so seriously! Overall its an alright movie, some funny things to quote but I wouldn't pay to see it again, wait for it to come on HBO. Was this review helpful? We took our 2 teenage boys and we ultimately walked out of the theatre. I can't believe this was only a rated R movie--at minimum a rated X. I did see an early trailer, and the early trailer was fairly explicit about what this movie was about. Then, a later trailer left out the racy elements and made this film seem more like a fun comedy, but not so racy.
When I know what I am getting into (Eastern Promises comes to mind, or Saw), then I really don't mind what's on the screen. I have been warned. But when I see trash, out of context (The Breakup comes to mind, and I walked out after one particularly shocking tasteless joke) I don't like it.
I guess that sort of makes me a hypocrite. So be it. If it's a trashy movie, please please please let me know up front so that I can make a decision to take my parents, my neices, or go by myself.

More like X-Rating!Posted: 10/4/2007A review of Good Luck Chuck by Sierra759 I'm seventeen years old. My best friend and I wanted to go see a cute romantic comedy. Instead...we ended up sitting through two hours of disgusting, X-Rated pornography. I was embarassed to be sitting in there and I was very glad that I didn't bring my younger sister. Aside from the fact that the plot-line was slow, the movie was almost impossible to stomach. The story could have easily been told without the vivid scenes of intercourse that pervaded the screen every five minutes. It was also very degrading to women! And I was disappointed in Jessica Alba for agreeing to appear in a movie like that. She used to be one of my favorite actresses and now the only good thing I can say about her is at least she didn't have sex on screen. Unlike the hundred other women. All I can say is the movie was an incredible disappointment and if you have any values, you will avoid seeing it or letting your teenagers see it, AT ALL COSTS!!! If I could rate it a -10...I would. Some people is the theater brought a child and did NOT walk out when it got really raunchy! We expected this movie to be a funny love story - what a sick joke!!
