I hated, hated, hated, after seeing this atrocity only once!
Get Rid of this Now!

Vivien Leigh was amazing and the chemistry between she and Clark Gable was there. I think this one does diserve to stay on the "Classic" list. Was this review helpful? So I watched it. And I know you cant fit all the stuff that happens in a 1000 page book into a movie, but really, this movie left much to be desired. The characters did not seem very real at all, Scarlett seemed too off in her own world, when in the book she was very concerned with being able to keep Tara. And Melanie seemed really fake in the movie. I even rented the movie again, thinking I must have missed something the first time. I couldnt even get through the first scene! Was this review helpful? One of the got to see movies.
The actors, the settings, and the presentation are all worthy of recognition in any persons lifetime.
The movie depicts the South in all its grandure, and continues through the picture to contrast and frame Southern and Northern reaction of the Civil War. Was this review helpful? "Gone With the Wind" defines the word classic. Everything is spectacular - the scenery is beautiful and epic, the characters are riveting and true to the novel, the costumes, the music, the drama ... Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable were astounding! I've seen it too many times to count, but every time I know I'm experiencing something magnificent. Everybody should see this masterpiece at least once in their lifetime or they're missing out. I promise you'll love it. Was this review helpful? First of all, 4 hours is pretty good to portray over a 1,000 pages book. Second of all, the ending was suppose to be like so. It makes you think about it... a frustrated kind of way, but still, the movie stick in your brains so long after you've seen it. This is a true classic movie made after the best book in the world. If you can't stand 4 hours of movie and don't know how to appreciate great art, this movie is not for you. Was this review helpful? Vivien Leigh, a previously unknown actress, gave a lot to the movie. Clark Gable represents a time in Hollywood when there was actually talent, not like the very young stars that will be taking over Hollywood (Hillary Duff, the Olsen twins) and in my mind, ruining it. I think that he really deserved an Oscar for the role, because in my mind, he portrayed Rhett Butler perfectly. The movie is faithful to the book, and I think that it was really well made. I'd recommend it to anyone. Was this review helpful? (just not men)<br> Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 12/27/2003A review of Gone With the Wind by xXCoquetteXx Gone With the Wind is the greatest story ever told. There is action(the Civil War), love(Scarlett and everyone), death(you'll have ta watch or read) and much more so everyone can find something they like about it. The only thing about the movie that I dislike is how they leave out important parts from the book like the fact that Scarlett has two other children. All and all it is one of the most impressive movies ever made and they don't make them like this anymore and if you disagree: go rent it, watch it on a big screen, and fast forward through the intermission and you'll love it. Oh yeah if you look at what tickets cost then verses now there is a HUGE difference, Gone With the Wind would be the highest grossing movie of all time with out that pesky inflation.
