Three times! True, I do believe that Roland did screw up quite a few things, but I love the design for Godzilla, however. Unfortunately, this movie has highly insulted those die-hard Godzilla fans. A giant iguana more realistic running around New York in search of a nest rather than a monster crushing buildings.
Godzilla was about destroying cities and fighting monsters, Zilla (what Toho "renamed" this American Godzilla) is more...mental, you never know who to vote for, Zilla? or the army? The end was saddening as well kind of pathetic for what happens. I loved this movie for Zilla. But its a shame that it had a lot more potential that Roland destroyed.
It was, however, ressurected as a very nice cartoon series a few months after the movie's release however. Was this review helpful? Its not even worth the one Im forced to give. Anyway, I say this movie had to reality to it, because yeah, HOW CAN GODZILLA LAY THE EGGS WHEN IT WAS A UNISEX PARENT? If you cant answer that, then why bother watching this crazy movie? It has nothing to do with the originals or anything. And by the way, this movie seriously put me to sleep at the beginning with the entire city of New York getting all excited over anything, the guy who played the mayor, would say. Thats where I lost it in this movie. But, its the dumbest movie ever, so dont watch it. Save your money and watch the Jurassic Park movies instead. Peace out. Was this review helpful? VERY BIG LIZARD running ramped through a major city and destroying almost everthing it touches - a true classic setting.<br>The first time I saw this, I was in AWE ! This Godzilla monster is a little different not only in appearance, but also in mobility. This new version has Godzilla moving a "little" bit faster which makes for some very exciting scenes.<br>I loved the first appearance of Godzilla when the old fisherman is running for his life off the dock, the umbrella scene as well as the part where the cameraman almost becomes toe-jam.<br>Why someone feels the need to try to place a LOVE STORY in movies of this nature is beyond me. In my opinion, it is absolutely rediculous.<br>Although I must say, the acting was terrific. The actors were quite believable and brought a real sense of humor to the screen. I particularly thought the French guy's character was the best.<br>Don't be afraid to purchase this one folks. This is a true winner. I have the DVD and have watched it at least 8 times. Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Gozilla is greatPosted: 1/13/2004A review of Godzilla by dandelion_9493 The first time I saw this movie I was 7 years old and I got scared when the baby Godzillas hatched and tried to eat Nick and all the other people, but now that I'm 13 I can say that it's a terrific movie. I recently got it on dvd and watched it as soon as I got home from the store. It was worth my time! A pity about the Madison Square. Awesome movie though! Was this review helpful?
