the movie was decent. it seemed like it was like every other sports movie that has been made, like remember the titans. the teams had to deal with racism, and at the end, they overcame it. it may be a true story, but they should have gone more in-depth with racism and other obsticles they had to go through. this movie was good, but it was not great.

Josh Lucas stars in Glory Road this basketball drama is based on the true story of college coach Don Haskins, who led his Texas Western team, which featured five African-American starters, to victory over an all-white Kentucky squad in the 1966 NCAA championship, making them the first such team to win the title name. Glory Road is just like all the other sports movies but yet it is so different there is a rookie coach and a underdog team who rise to the accession. Glory Road is based on a true story. And what a great story to make a movie on.I think the movie mainly focuss on Don Haskins the coach of the Texas Western University who made a breakthrough from being a girls basketball coach to a collage basketball NCAA championship. I dont like sports but I love a good sports movie. Basketball is a sport that I am not really fond of. But I loved this movie. I loved Glory Road because it is more then basketball and winning the big game it is about racism and discrimination on black people and American Sports. There are pretty heavy scenes that show the kind of racism and discrimination the black people went threw in the 1960s and the world today has only made some improvement to change that. Some of the scenes that include this are when everyone gets back from the game they find that some people have trash there motel room and writing nasty things on the wall and beating them up in the bathroom at a local dinner, and as they all walked out on the court people would through popcorn, trash and there drinks at them yelling Boo-Boo. Director James Gartner ends his film with black-and-white footage of many of the real people whose lives are changed in the movie. Also they tell you what each of the players does after winning the 1966 NCAA championship. Glory Road is Smart and Funny. Glory Road is a Knockout. Glory Road is Inspiring film.

While I did enjoy this film I fell I must speak out with what has come to light in the past few days. This film is based on falsehoods and outright fabrications which cast it in a very dubious light. One need only look on cnnsi.com and on the Seattle Post-Intelligencer websites for articles where the scenes depicting racism are outright lies. Texas AM-Commerce officials have called the dipiction too awful for words. Seattle University was also falsely portrayed. You can find the article written by the Post-Intelligencer movie critic on their website. Racism is a disgusting scourge, but to falsely paint someone with the brush of racism is flat out evil and malicious.

Glory Road, while seemingly custom-made as an inspirational tearjerker in the vein of Coach Carter and Remember the Titans, still resonates in this day and age. Although the movie is set in a bygone era, racial prejudice still exists and marginalized sectors, and not just Black people but other minorities, continue their struggle today. Well, its certainly nothing like Crash, but Glory Road works as a heart-warming sports-themed drama that touches on racial politics. This reminds me of a more gritty and trenchant new documentary that deals with marginalized groups triumphing over adversity. Its about this ex-drug dealer in Brazil who starts a musical movement in his community to keep young people away from drugs and violence. Now that film perfectly blends social consciousness with musical verve and energy.

I am a woman who in the most part does not enjoy sports movies, but it was my husbands turn to pick the movie so I went. I really enjoyed this movie, a real feel good kinda thing! Goes to show you how bad racisim was back then and how awfull people can be to each other. You just wanted to hug those players and tell them it was going to be O.K. - See this movie, you wont regret it!

I loved this movie. We need more movies like this, to remind us how we have in the pass treated other people and hopefully will awaken us to the reality that we are all the same human beings and that no race is superior.

I absolutely loved this movie.A lot of people are saying that it is just the same thing repeated over and over but its not.It tells a story from a different perspective and it was told pretty well.I saw it in El Paso where im from and everyone in the theater couldnt stop clapping. Also you should stick around after the credits to hear what the real characters have to say.All in all i loved it!

I went to see this movie today. To say that it was incredible would not be saying enough. I applauded (and so did most of the audience), I cried, I laughed, felt angry and proud. I was born during the time that apartheid ruled in this country. The movie gives the viewer a taste of what it was like for Blacks - for us. The residuals of the by-gone era still ripple through to the future too often though. That is why this movie and others like it are so very important for the American psyche. BUT Most of all it represents how the human condition can triumphe over metiority in all of its forms.

I enjoyed this movie alot. Maybe becuase Im originally from El Paso but it was still great. The only thing that they really got wrong in the movie is that it was Don Haskins 4th year there not his first. The movie reminded me alot of Remember The Titans. I always love stories that are actually worth telling. This the the best movie I have seen in a while Tristan and Isold ed and who wants to see a movie about gay people? Anyway GLORY ROAD IS DEFINATLY WORTH YOUR 7 BUCKS!!!!!!!!

Great, great, movie is what my son said (who played basketball in high school) as we left the theater after watching Glory Road. I felt the same way. This movie was very inspiring, and the fact that its based on a true story, even more so. It was so nice to see a movie about focus, and a drive to succeed against all odds, and not mucked up with the usual sex and soppy love stories. After one of the black players was beaten to a pulp in a mens bathroom, all the black players talked about what they should do about it. The conclusion, rather than retaliation, was to always go two at a time, to protect each other against the redneck crackers. The focus was on succeeding, in life and in their game, and being a class act at the same time, no matter who was out to hurt them, or who was out to stop them from succeeding. Best quote from the movie - YOUR DIGNITY IS INSIDE YOU AND NO-ONE CAN TAKE THAT AWAY EXCEPT YOU! Stick around and pay attention to the short follow up bio on the REAL characters this movie was based on. Their successes, compared to where most of them originally came from, are nothing short of phenominal. This movie was well written, well done, well acted, and VERY inspiring!!!!

I just saw this film today and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was riveting with action, never a dull moment. I want to see more films with Josh Lucas starring in them. He is an excellent actor.

I admit I loved the game scenes, and even if this was simply a basketball version of Remember The Titans it would be worth seeing, but its more. WITHOUT trying to sensationalize race, this film deals honestly and humanly with the everyday sides of racism in the 60s. It does a good job of portraying the complexity of real characters. Yeah, in the end its a feel good, give a cheer, walk out with a smile sports film, but it also turns out to be a great American story.

Kudos to Glory Road. It was more than a basketball movie. It took a piece of American history and made it come to life. My teenage children had heard about the discrimation against blacks.....but the hotel and restroom scenes painted a vivid picture about the ugliness of prejudice. I will be the first in line to buy the DVD when it comes out!
