The cartoon GI Joe names were there and thats it... nothing to do with GI Joe from that point.
'If they change they change the title and ten GI Joe names then no one would know this had anything to do with GI Joe."
Well Beyond that... it has a weak plot and poor acting. Just felt as I was looking at big wanna bes that thaught they were the Top so just waking up to make the movie was all they had to do. Joe: The Rise of Cobra by MovieKidTwelve Ok there is so many things horrible about this movie I can't even begin to explain how about we start off with the horrible acting. This has to be the worst atcing I have ever seen I know this is brutal but I have seen Soaps with better acting. The charcter duke reminded me wayyyyyy to much of the corny John Cena the lines where your typical corny ( I'm gonna get U out a here) acting It %&*^ed. Now lets start about how it ruined the american tradition this was more like a real life anamie and so much of the script was taken of other mivies I mean did anyone thing heavy breathing and No Duke sounded like Star Wars This movie made my cry it was so bad. I barley gave it one star because the only good thing was the C.G.Ioverall son't even buy on dvd watch on usa network or something this was horrendous. Was this review helpful? Just a bunch of mindless junk. Oh well I'm sure the meatheaded masses will think its wonderful. What a shame that these are the kind of movies Hollywood tries to shove down our throats because "thats where the money is." Joe: The Rise of Cobra by Rebel_Gal2 This movie is okay--but definitely just a one timer at most. The acting and script are lame. It does not line up well with the old GI Joe cartoons. Cobra Commander, Destro, and Zartan are all pitifully portrayed. The Baroness is okay but couldn't she have given a semblance of an accent? The highlights are Scarlett, General Hawk, and the cameo by Brendan Fraser. Not bad--But I sure hope they don't do a sequel. If they do I'm not going to see it. Joe: The Rise of Cobra by omarali85 The movie was okay but, just like "Transformers", the view - especially on the action scenes - is very elusive to the attentive eyes. Furthermore, the idea of a half-burnt maniac trying to take over the world, or something, was like a dark version of "Power Rangers" or "Action Man". The CGI-generated vehicles also looked unbelievable. Other than those, I "averagely" enjoyed the film. And finally, doesn't "G.I. JOE" remind us of some manga cartoon out there? I mean, there are two samurai guys: the black one (always mute) is the good guy, while the white one's the bad guy (who also called the other his "brother"). Among the bad guys is a rather trampy brunette with glasses. Then, at the good guys' team, there is a high-ranking officer of African descendent, and the female member is a red-head. Either this film is a copy-cat, or it is the movie version of the referred cartoon, "Sigma 6". Was this review helpful? This film is meant to sell as CGI Action. It does it's job, but with poor execution, sloppy editing, bad acting, zero character development (despite pointless flashbacks for multiple characters that the film would have been better off without), and no central character for anyone to relate with (except the "5-to-8-year-old-boys-just-discovering- girls" crowd). Having experiance with the film industry also gives me an idea of what is possible with CGI acording to a budget and this $175 mil. film looked like $75 mil. Every CGI vehicle in this film looked like it was plucked from Hasbro's production line. All this aside, my five year old loved it. Oh and what's up with Snake Eyes' lips? Was this review helpful? Joe: The Rise of Cobra by Roselynn19768 I watched this movies yesterday and thought the movie was action packed and the characters are what I remembered. Dennis Quiad was excellent as the "Hawk". Joe: The Rise of Cobra by Ramdog0 Im sad to say that all too often I tend to let the critic's reviews dictate my summer movie habits. In the case of GI Joe I'm glad to say that my 13 year old nephew knows far more than the so called pros. I can't say that I remember the comics, but on a rainy day I decided to let my inner child let do the movie picking and I was not disappointed. Sure GI Joe is not an Oscar contender, but the action was sure fun to watch. I found the story to be interesting and the CGI to be first rate. Aside from Dennis Quaid, the actors were somewhat unknown to me, but all did a good job. Like "Fantastic 4", I look forward to another installment in the GI Joe series and the movie sets the ground for a another quite nicely. So don't bother with the so called critics - Listen to your inner child! GI Joe was a nice surprise to the end of SUMMER! Was this review helpful?
