The acting is great as are the characters who seem more real than alot of the people you see in movies now adays. Oh, and by the way, to all thoes who keep complaining about superman and batman not being in the list: It was a list for INDIE comics...not comics that are huge around the world. That's just a disgrace!I don't even recommend it. It is an insult to superior comic book movies such as spiderman, x-men, and blade. What in the world is going on? Was this review helpful? The sarcasm in this movie is very evident and funny, and really touches on real-life issues successfully through its honesty that many other films can't. There is something very enchanting about Scarlett Johannson that is really evident in every movie that she is in. I loved this film. Was this review helpful? First time seing "ghost world" was about a year a go, i had no idea that it was, this sort of comic. It pretty much didn't matter, this movie is great. I liked the begining with the indi video that was cool. That was kind of strange for me because i used to watch those videos when i was younger. I wouln't think that someone would include something like that, into anything. That's kind of embarrassing, i don't know, i just thought that was cool. This movie is pretty plain and simply just telling the story of these characters .Well just to let u know, i suggest that u see this movie, go rent it or something, and u might end up thinking of your life and stuff.(whatever) Was this review helpful? I honestly thought this movie was a great portrayal of how all the loner kids feel, and even though the relationship between Enid and Seymour is a bit wierd, it's not that terrible.. All in all i thought this was a great movie, highly entertaining and amazingly done. But I wouldn't reccommend it to someone without a twisted sense of humour.. it just wouldn't be that funny! Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 1/14/2004A review of Ghost World by ANONYM780 The "It" teenagers, Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson, are sensational in this "it" movie. The two Little Women are making their way through a "ghost world". It takes some time to get to the point, but once you're there it is purrfect. The actresses play two graduates who don't know how and what to do in life, and try their own styles through it. One of them falls in love, and the other one, well... it's a little more complicated. You have to see it to know!

Now would I reccomend this movie? Of course. For every teenage girl, it is a great inspiration. Although it might be better if you didn't take their advice, but you will learn from it. If I enjoyed this movie, everybody should. And the best oportunity is to see it in theater. But it's too late now. Everything is great and if you ask me what i liked the most, i'd just answer: the combination of every element you need to make a movie.

Thank you,
For more reviews by Me... you'll just have to wait... I know its gonna be hard since im just great but, please be patient

Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 1/14/2004A review of Ghost World by IrulanCorrino This movie rates among those I can and want to watch repeatedly...whether it should have been included with other movies made from comic books is debatable. It was a graphic novel, not some serial comic full of steriod bulged superheroes and double D cup vixens. It is not in the same category as X-Men or Batman at all. I enjoyed those movies tremendously but they're not the same type of movie as Ghostworld. I think it deserves a high rating based upon it's value as a movie in of itself. Who cares if it was based on a comic book...too many of the other reviews focus on this alone.
It's an interesting movie full of interesting characters. It's for someone who wants to think about what they're watching and be left pondering it still later. The offhand jokes, comedic timing and chemistry between actors are awesome. Make sure and watch the extras on the DVD. If you want an adrenaline rush go elsewhere...unless you are mysteriously attracted to the sight of sad eyed Buscemi as I hear some women are (looks to the side guiltily). There are plenty of people in Enid and Charlotte's position whether they possess their cynicism or not. It's a voyueristic look at two teens forced to acclimate themselves to a new stage in life. Enid has spent so much effort being different and hating her familiar little highschool world. Now she's left to figure out what she is and who she wants to be in the wider world where being different is not always appreciated or allowed. Oh, and Enid, you must decide NOW!! I find it interesting to watch as I am married, 26 and still wondering what I want to be when I grow up. So please, give Ghostworld a go, and decide for yourself. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 1/14/2004A review of Ghost World by ¨º¤»ƒÏ®ÊÅÎñ‡Ðî§H؇«¤º¨ This is one of my favorites. Scarlett Johanson does a beautiful job of portraying the average american teenager trying to find their way after high school. The way in which the director approaches the young adult audience also adds to the theme of uncertainty in adolesence. This is one of those movies that you go back and rent again and again. *2 Thumbs Up* Was this review helpful? Spiderman is a kids movie and all the Batman movies *$#^ed. Steve Buscemi did a great job and Thora Birch was a good fit for the character of Enid plus I think she is pretty hot. A good movie for INTELLIGENT people that can enjoy something different instead of the same old crap that most movies are. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 12/3/2003A review of Ghost World by disposable_teen657 This was a great film. I'm an over analizing stickler when it comes to movies. it all has to be great. the music, the use of language and colour, the cinematography, the actors. but this was great. they wouldnt be able to find a better Seymour if they tried and Thora Birch was fab. Now, normally I hate books turned movies(well, this was a comic book, but im sure you get the gist and nub)the ending is fabulous and leaves you begging for more, and the extra characters you dont really notice to much are hiliarious. like the kid in her art class that keeps getting his works broken or the hick in the quick mart, and the art teacher is so strange its great. thank god i dont have her as mine.the sound track is beautiful. this film is just brilliant. screw renting it, BUY IT ALREADY!
~Clare J. age 15~ Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 6/7/2003A review of Ghost World by tolloid this movie is a voice for all the troubled, cynical, annoyed fraction of the population that is sick of the world in its entirety. no, it's not a pseudo-pretentious movie, its genuine in its emotion and passion for something better in life. and seeing steve buscemi acting like that in his old age makes me depressed as to how i'll turn out.
