I accedentally watched it twice and it got kind of boring. in other words: it got boring. But the first time you see it it is hillarious!!!! Was this review helpful? I expected it to be like the pink panther but I was dissapointed. There were only a few slightly funny scenes and nothing in the movie made you laugh out loud. They made Max a little too cool. They should have made him more of a goober. Just a clueless idiot who constantly screws up but somehow solves the case by accident. That's funny and that's what they should have done but they didn't.

Had several funny parts...one hysterical part in the airplane lavatory. Overall, pretty amusing. Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway were both perfectly cast, especially Carell. Hathaway was really good, but my old view of 99 seemed to get in the way; one of the drawbacks of loving the original show.
Again, it was good overall, just not as funny as I was expecting, but worth seeing at the cinema. My wife actually enjoyed it more than I did....and what was REALLY weird was how much she laughed at the Step Brothers preview....normally she thinks that type of humor pretty stoooopid. Steve Carrell makes a mediocre script very funny most of the time. Other times, it drags horribly. This movie is weakest when it moralizes or makes allusions to the TV series. I did appreciate the way they made Agent 86... well... smart, instead of completely inept. I will see this one again... on DVD. Was this review helpful? Carrel's comic timing was right on the mark. He didn't really have to try to immitate Adams, he just naturally slipped into the part - he made it seem effortless. My wife and I laughed through the whole thing. We forgot to eat our popcorn we were so captivated. An infinitely better attempt at recreating a classic than Steve Martin's Pink Panther. A must see!! Steve Carrell & Anne Hathaway were perfect at bringing the essence of the old Get Smart series to the movie while adding their own chemistry. I went to see this with a girlfriend. This movie, on the other hand, made me laugh the whole movie, and when i wasn't laughing, i was either smiling or getting ready to laugh again. It has a good plot (espesially for a comedy) and 1 or 2 twists. The audience was laughing the whole time too. And there were some really "Smart" choices for the cast. I hope they make a sequal. This movie was absolutely hilarious. My date and I saw it on a Saturday at 3:40 pm. The crowd was about 75% and all laughed many many times out loud. See this movie on with a large crowd and it will just intensify your experience. I fully recommend this movie. By the way I have seen over 2000 movies and this is top 50. The entire cast was placed in the perfect match between actor and the characters they played. I used to watch reruns of the show "Get Smart" when I was a child, so I fully appreciated the sense of humor. If you wanna laugh and walk away feeling good, then this movie is for you too. Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful HilariousMy husband and I haven't gone to the movies in FOREVER because we are always worried that the movie might be horrible, and it's a lot harder to walk out of a theater than to simply turn off the DvD player. We are so very glad that this was our come-back movie! It was absolutely hilarious! We aren't the type of people to laugh out loud in theaters, but this one nearly brought tears to our eyes and let us shed any hesitations we had.
