Date  Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  A Waste of PotentialsIt's a crime shame that such a film, with some promising potentials against "Surrogates", could end up being a waste of filmakers and filmgoers' time. It was utterly confusing at the beginning, but it was also head-spinning and a red-light district special; all in one. No real, ever-lasting story was there to be told. Even if you enjoy R-rated films, and maybe a lil bit of blue films, not all of you would even bother watching this film either. Furthermore, I still cannot forgive myself from watching a XXX-L dude, munching on pizzas, deploying a CGI tramp to miggle with other CGI dummies in this virtual world. My teenage brother, who followed me to the cinema, couldn't bear seeing parts of this film either. We both left early to do something more useful. ...Hence, I think the film critics were right, this time, at least, in badly rating this film; it doesn't even deserve 5 out of 10. A couple in the row in front of us got up and left the theater so we figured they didn't quite understand or like the movie. I was also a bit confused at first but thankfully I had my 16 year old "gamer" son with me. He was able to explain things to me so that I could better understand the movie. Once I understood what was happening and I was able to seperate it from the movies I normally see to a video game then it became INTERESTING to me. I would see it again and even buy it on DVD. It's different, so why not expand your mind and explore new things??? Was this review helpful? I thought the acting in this movie was good and the plot was good not great but overall the movie was pretty entertaining. I liked this movie for it's in your face scenes and if you like to play online games this movie is fun to see and a bit of a cautionary tale as well. I say go see this movie if you are looking for some mindless entertainment and if you're not easily offended. Was this review helpful? But it just crapped completely, the movie begining was bad i wanted to be told the story plot and idea whats going on. but no it dives stright into action.
There it gave me a idea that this wasnt gonna go well... and movie failed me the whole flim, i was seriously thinking of walking out. but the story had great protental.

Wow - Gamer is visual acid, but in a fun way. So much better than Crank High Voltage. My only quibble is with the whole weak female who needs to be rescued plotline. Other than that, this movie has the correct runtime for what it is, doesn't take itself too seriously, and is a lot of fun. Michael C. Hall has the eyes of a sociopath, doesn't he? But he's the reason this movie works. And Gerard Butler is super hot. Now, for all that's holy, stop using the completely ridiculous whine about losing time you'll never get back if you didn't like it. Nobody forced you to go watch a movie. Was this review helpful? I am a HUGE Gerard Butler fan but this vehicle is not worthy of him and before he reaches 40/41/42, he needs to do much better than this. Only an A-lister can get by with this clunker and maybe have a career intact. Within the first ten minutes I knew I could have easily asked for my money back which I haven't felt since "Elvira Mistress of The Dark" back in the 80s. This movie stinks THAT bad. If you like T & A and soft core porn and lots of butt and naked breasts everywhere then this is definitely your movie. Even though I don't know many men who would go get their wives if they turned to trickin' (whether Castle i.e. Michael C. Hall's character is responsible for that I don't know).
Anyway, PLEASE PLEASE wait till it comes out at Redbox or Kroger for a $1. And even that is alot to pay during this recessionary period! Was this review helpful? I had never seen a concept like this one before, but I've heard from some older people they've already done something like this. I dunno.
It's definitely rated R for a reason. Quite a few, actually. Excessive cussing, violence, and lots of topless women.
The music was a little lacking in this movie. Only two songs really stood out, the rest faded in and were hardly noticed.
Also, whoever's saying this is a "guy flick" is mistaken. I'm a girl, and my boyfriend and his friends that I went with to see the movie all didn't like it, but I did. Go figure.
