He sure did ruined the talented actors in this movie. He has NO facial expression, therefore he CANNOT act! He has no resemblance of Santa Claus! He's too tall and buggy-eyed looking. He's a psycho!!!! Why him?? Hollywood is so screwed up!! Apparently they are democratic version of Santa Claus trying to say that Santa Claus has failed and no longer the traditional icon. It's like they are saying "Moveover Santa..the brother Fred can do it. Moveover Reagan, Obama can do it". Whatever..... Was this review helpful? I just saw this movie tonight with my 12 and 14 year old boys, and it was really really good! It may seem alittle slow at first, but it really is building up to a great meaning for this move. It turned out to be quite funny,
and taught alot of good lessons along the way. The ending was very special, and I would recommend it to just about anyone. It is true that young children may not understand it all completly, but I think all and all it is a great Christmas movie. In my opinion the critics review made no sense at all for this movie, and the people that gave it bad reviews were not really paying attention, (or did not really watch it at all?)
I read the reviews first and took a chance. Glad I did!!!!!! By the way, cursing? Could not pick that out in the film. Was this review helpful? It was one of those movies where the funniest parts were shown in the commercials and half of those didn't make it into the movie for some reason. My kids ended up completely grumpy after this movie and complained that we should have watched Game Plan again, at least it was funny. I couldn't agree more. This movie was a complete DUD, which is a complete shame considering the talent of the actors in the movie. Was this review helpful? I loved this movie. From the begining I was laughing and while it did have it's inconsistancies, it was still funny all the way (like how it looked like it was started in 1304 AD and then advanced to Modern day) it seemed as though some problems should have been addressed but the fact is it was funny and uplifting. I should say however that it is a suggestive movie so children may not understand certain things so parents beware.
All in all, I feel there to have been some major messages and hintful things but of corse you also get to see Kevin Spacy as another rendition of superman...it made me giggle to see that. I belive that this movie will be good for christmas time next year with your family and it is good but came a little too early for the holidays. Hopefully people see this; it was a wonderful film. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Dumb Fun doesnt have to be this dumb!Posted: 11/11/2007A review of Fred Claus by MovieJunkie20071 If your idea of brilliant entertainment is watching Saturday Morning Cartoons - unbelievable characters, absence of logic, barely comprehensible plotlines with absurd explanations, and some plain-old mean-spiritedness (but also fun in its own way) - this might be a good film to take the kids to.
If you don't like having your intelligence insulted - even WITH "suspending disbelief" - this one might be worth skipping.
When the "Head Elf" - whom no one seems to either know or answer to - says in one scene "I can't dance," but you've just seen him line-dancing along side Vince Vaughn in the scene just prior ... that's a problem.
When the power is shut off at the North Pole by using a big ol' switch that is in plain sight in a frequently visited room, but no one seems to be able to figure out how to get the power back on ... that's a problem.
When one of the major-character villians is a representative of some organization that apparently has the power to control Santa Claus' operation along with the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, but no effort is made to explain who or what this organization is or why they are in charge of these things ... that's a problem.
And those are just three of perhaps twenty-five significant problems of various sorts.
But if you are a Saturday Morning Cartoon junkie, none of these things may matter to you. The movie is clean, well-lit, colorful, funny in places, and heartwarming in just the way you'd expect it to be.
But don't let the calibre of the cast fool you into thinking you aren't going to have your intelligence insulted, if that's something you care about. You will.
Pay no more than Bargain Matinee prices for this one! Was this review helpful?
