Clint Eastwood deserved all the rights to accept the praise for this beautiful film. I beleive in the purpose of our marines and Army forces, not to mention with the police and everyone else. These people serve purpses and should be thanked everyday for their heroic bravery of serving and saving us. Sure, they may not be the heroes we see in the comic related movies or the TV show, but nonetheless, they are heroes. Flags of Our Fathers shows just that. It was not about the mystery of who did what on that battlefield, but more about the justice being served for the purpose of staring death in the face, to plant something that is very meaningful to every true American, who may or may not have been there at that time in our civilized history. So, for every blasphemist that has said this movie was not even that good of a movie, I think you deserve to be checked into rehab or something. This movie is a great and well performed epic, which I love. And having said such, I will end this here. Good day. Was this review helpful? Excellent acting, excellent job!
Way to go Clint Steven!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 2/25/2007A review of Flags of Our Fathers by Spastic220 Flags of our Fathers was a great movie. It was a lot diffrent from others because it shows afterwords what happens. I think the best part was at the end that shows them all swimming. Great soundtrack, great story, great way of doing it. Letters from Iwo Jima though was a little bit better and this movie lacked a little something, I just dont know what it is. Was this review helpful? Worth every penny spent on the DVD.
Im looking forward to the other side of the story now.

But I play alot of WWII games and have seen saving private ryan. I am just getting tired of the way the do all the landing sequences the same. I dont know how to do it so it looks and feels different but if the did it would be great. Anyway great film. If you at into eastwood dramas youll love it. Was this review helpful? Iwo Jimas D-day was much more worse than the Normandy invasion but when you watch the movie this beach looked more like the Juno beach on the Normandy invasion than it did Omaha.
I believe this movie focused way to much on the bonds tour than anything else. And the soundtrack for this movie, wow, it plays the same song over and over, its a good song but they should have had a more diverse soundtrack than just 1 song. Its ashame Steven Spielberg couldnt have directed this and made it into something it should have been. Was this review helpful? nuff said. Was this review helpful? The people who didnt like the movie werent critisizing America or our soldiers or even the story itself. It was the way the story was told that they thought could have been improved upon. Nor did they insult anybody in their review or come across as being unpatriotic in any way. For those who did like the movie I understand your passion for America and our history, I feel it too, but do you really think that insulting those who didnt care for the way the story was told will get others to go to the movie so that they might feel the same passion for our country as we do? We are the leaders of the free world...lets start acting like it. Was this review helpful? If you do not understand or like this movie, then that is your right. All you wanted was blood, guts, and glory, like all the new movies today that have any kind of military theme. To heck with you. They have video games for that. You want real blood and guts? JOIN THE MARINES. What you will NEVER,EVER understand is the fact that about 90 of war is dealing with what youve seen and done.
To those of you who panned this movie, fine. You have no idea what good cinema even when it looks you right in your over-privelidged, cheeto-eating, energy drink-guzzling faces. As for the rest of us who appreciate what Eastwood tried his absolute best to accomplish (and did), the depiction of one of the true moments when Hell came to this Earth.....we thank you to ALL Vets and we thank you Mr. Eastwood. Good luck at the Acadamy Awards.
There are no Heroes. Only men like my father. Was this review helpful? Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 11/9/2006A review of Flags of Our Fathers by Lancer394 One of the best in years and years!! Brought back some memories and reminded me of what soldiers have gone through since time began. Reviewers like Weir, Scarface and Never Again are most probably 20-25 year old punks who wouldnt give a dime, let alone their lives, for other human beings and their way of live. One of the most patriotic things you can do is to serve your country. Clint Eastwood done a great job to re-create a true bloody a crutual battle in history. I am proud to stand up and say that I am an American and I support our troops no matter what the cause, it helps give them drive and a want to do what they are doing. I cant believe that a few other people that wrote reviews were bold enough to down a movie of a battle that their parents and grandparents faught in... God Bless America Was this review helpful? That being said this movie was horrible. I dont think it does any justice to our armed forces because all it does is show how the government raised money by exploiting a picture and the remaining soldiers, not the heroism the soldiers showed. I understand the movies was supposed to be about the flag but they market it like a war movie. The few action scenes they show are okay but they pan away everytime a bomb hits and they are so disjuncted you dont know when its taking place. The death scenes look like an old western and the character development is all over the place. You never know who anyone is and you really stop caring. The ending drags on so long you want to leave. Sorry but save your money. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 11/7/2006A review of Flags of Our Fathers by AlexGochis___2 Wow i mean the movie was horrable . IM not saying its a bad movie you know i think its dum. They showed maybe 15 minutes of War footage. The best part of the movie was at the end when they did sho actuall footage , but still it was about the people who put up that flag. I mean its a good picture but who cares about the names . I was hopping for a good movie you know Clint Eastwood great actor then its probally one of the biggest upset. People need to know about the war how did they breach up the mountain and getting there asses kicked then come back and show how many japaneese against the U.S and how we won. But instead its about 3 people who went around selling stupid ass bonds and fighting over stupid crap who was there and there was 2 flags.WOW! Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
