Johnny Depp is just spectacular here... he plays the character of James so well. I have never seen an actor that becomes more embedded in his roles as Depp does, in every movie he appears in. Kate Winslet is charming also, and her chemistry (though no romance develops) with Johnny Depp is undeniable. The young boy, Peter, gives a really heartfelt performance, as realistic as can be. You can feel his struggles and pain and sadness as the movie progresses. Dustin Hoffman puts on an excellent show as always.
I adore this movie and would give it twenty stars if I could. Was this review helpful? Freddie Highmore was astonishingly good in this movie, he is so cute and at the end i just wanted to go through my TV and hug him...Finding Neverland is just simply perfection, i laughed and i cried. Barries meets the Davies and it gives him the wonderful idea behind Peter Pan, so the Davies brought his imagination to life, we got to see along with them what Neverland was like....it was truly magical, heartwarming and fun from start to finish...i believe it should go down in history as one of the most perfect movies ever made...it would be totally awsome if Neverland was real, but for now ill just have to believe. The struggle of the writer " J.M Barrie" just moved me. The whole movie is spectacular. The scenes where he shows Neverland to Kate Winslet ... or when he dances with his dog as a bear are things that were fantasies,but, were pretty real to me. Instead what I found is perhaps the BEST movie of the year. The movie grabs you and pulls you into the life of JM Barries. The screenplay and the cast is as good as it gets. This rates as one of the best , if not the best, performances by Depp. His perfomance is bounds and leaps beyond Pirates of the Carribean. I recommend this movie to anyone. It had humor, suspense and tragedy in it. But the little boy Peter seemed to angry for a boy his age... and the mother seemed a bit too stupid... but it was a great movie besides that and I cried at the end of the movie... But they have all finally figured out what I have known for quite some time now: that Johnny Depp is quite possibly the most versatile and best actor of our generation. He is absolutely believable in this role, just as he was as Captain Jack Sparrow the year before, as well as every other character he's chosen to portray. I saw quite a few movies this year, and I have to say that Finding Neverland is probably my favorite of all of them. I was able to completely lose myself in this movie, which is something I strive for with any movie that I watch, but rarely acheive. I will definitely be first in line for the DVD as soon as it comes out. If you can find this in a theater near you (doubtful now, as it comes out on DVD next month) then treat yourself and go see this. You will not be disappointed. Was this review helpful? It shows a special kind of arrogance! I did sit through this film- but it wasn'nt long into the movie, that I realised I had made a mistake. Despite all the rave reviews, I found it to be boring- I actually fell asleep for a short time-but don't believe I missed anything of importance. The movie has it's good moments, I admit, but if you like a little excitement in your movie-going experience, this is not the film for you. Was this review helpful?
