My friends and I do a movie marathon day every so often, and we saw Fight Club on the shelf in the rental store and decided to watch it. Me and one of my friends personally did not have any desire whatsoever to watch it. But once it was playing we were the ones who got really into it. The mind-blowing scenes, amazing acting of Edward Norton and Brad Pitt and frequent plot-twists made this movie a must-see. This movie is definetely not for everyone, but for those who need action, crave originality and love a movie which requires deep thinking, you should definetely grab some popcorn and jump on the couch which a bunch of friends and watch Fight Club. I honestly love the end- (movie spoiler) when the bombs go off and Martha and the Narrator hold hands, shows that things work out in the end but does not imply a happy ending at all. And the last part with the changing of reels (ahem), ties the whole movie and gives it comic relief after a very, very chaotic movie. Was this review helpful? But during my Junior year of high school, I realized the true likeness of this movie and why my friends love it. The reason I didnt like it at first, was because I didnt think that it had made any sense. But then I realized that it was almost like a reflection of my life. Because honestly, Ive let people walk all over me, kinda like Edward Norton did in this movie. I got into a couple of fights when I was younger, but it made me stronger than ever. And now, Im like a tank. Its all thanks to this movie. Because of the entire fight deal, Ive learned that even in real life, theres still a lot of things that make people angry. I could identify with it well because The Narrator is everything I am and Tylar is everything I wish I could be. The characters are shocking and flamboyant, but still true to life. Almost everyone can see their own feelings and needs in one of the leads. Although some pieces of the plot don't seem to fit, these tiny mistakes and moments that don't quite fit and run smoothly are made obsolete by the brilliant dialogue. Even just the one-liners (I am Jack's broken heart, You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake) add enough to the movie to make you forget the little things that make you think hmm, something's not quite right. The filming is beautiful and the script is excellent. It's violent enough to get your attention, but this movie isn't really about a bunch of guys fighting each other. It's about humanity's current state of desperation and our need to evolve, to become more than we can be. Was this review helpful? I'm not saying we are all depressed and angry at the world. but at one time or another in your life you will be. And if this movie is your bible, like it is mine you'll see the irony in it all. It goes against the grain of corporate america, it says don't buy into the greed. But let me ask you: Did you buy the book? Did you buy a movie ticket to go see it once, maybe twice? Did you buy the DVD or VHS? Do you wear the fight club t-shirt with the 8 rules on the back? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions you... are a hippocrite. As am I. The movie revolves around how we don't need earthly possessions and we should be pissed about our lifestyles. After reading the book, I was persuaded by a friend to see the movie. I've been in many online discussions with people saying they've never met a girl that liked Fight Club, but being a girl that... likes Fight Club is much better in actuality than being one that isn't.
